A hollow elongated medullary bone nail capable of being locked in place with at least a pair of transversely-disposed bone screws is disclosed. The radius in transverse cross-section of the outer surface of the nail varies over the circumference of the cross-sectional profile of the nail in such a manner that a steadily rounded contour results.

An aiming apparatus for making transverse bores in a patient's bone in register with the holes or bores of an osteosynthesis aid in the bone, especially an interlocking nail, comprises an elongated holder for the accommodation of an aiming member adapted to be brought into the beam path of an X-ray apparatus, a reception head for receiving a drill or wire drill rotatably supported in the holder, and a power drive supported by the holder for rotatably driving the reception head. The reception head is made of a material transparent to X-ray radiation.

Aiming apparatus

A charger for a battery-operated surgical machine includes a charging circuit and a housing. The housing contains the charging circuit and is provided with at least one plug receptacle means for the battery component of the surgical machine. The housing is also fitted with a selector switch connected to the charging circuit. In a first position of the selector switch the charging circuit charges the battery immediately, while in a second position of the switch the charging circuit first discharges the battery down to a predetermined lower potential and then charges it up to a predetermined higher potential.

A hip joint prosthesis comprises a femoral component having an elongated shank formed of a metal alloy and a joint head adapted to cooperate with the natural acetabulum or a prosthetic acetabulum likewise formed of a metal alloy. The shank has approximately the same width in the lateral-medial plane and a slightly downwards tapered width in the anterior-posterior plane.

A device for positioning a holder for an aiming sleeve for implanted bone nail fasteners with respect to a Roentgen ray source includes a support (25) for supporting the holder (7). A base plate (12) and a pivotable bracket plate (3) receives the support means and is mountable on the housing of the Roentgen ray source for spacedly positioning the holder from the source. The support is formed as a fork-like element (26, 28, 29) retained in sleeves (38, 39) on the bracket plate by means of locking cams (8).

Aiming device for setting nails in bones

A tubular supply container for use in a medical syringe to dispense bone cement has a pipe formed tube with a slidable plunger. A smaller diameter injection pipe is removably secured to the forward end of the pipe formed tube. A funnel may also be applied to the forward end of the tube to assist in filling the container or may be placed on the rear end to serve as a stand.
