An automatic shuttle valve having a valve body with a bore defined in it. A piston slide in the bore between first and second and positions and a third intermediate position. The valve distributes hydraulic fluid from a fluid supply through first and second branch conduits to respective first and second fittings leading respectively to first and second selectively operable driven mechanisms. A high pressure fitting at each end of the bore. The piston having respective first and second circular cross section, conical end blocks which are seated in the first seat of the first fitting when the piston is in the first position and the second seat of the second fitting when the piston is in the second position while the cylinder blocks are out of both of the seats when the piston is in the third position. The first and second driven mechanisms include respective first and second valves operable to receive hydraulic fluid from the first fitting or from the second fitting. The passage of fluid to the first or the second driven mechanisms moving the piston respectively toward the first or second positions and passage of fluid through both driven mechanisms moving the piston to the third position.

Automatic shuttle valve

A stripping device for enlarging an opening in sheet material and possibly for initially forming and then enlarging the opening. A hydraulically operated cylinder has a cylinder housing around it. A piston in the cylinder is connected to move a shoe that is guided on the cylinder housing. A clamping jaw is attached to the cylinder housing. An axially displaceable stripping jaw is connected to the piston either by a rod on the piston or that jaw is attached on the shoe and moves with the shoe. The shoe may have a plurality of spaced attachment points for the stripping jaw. There may be an extension of the piston on which the stripping jaw is carried or on which an additional sripping jaw is carried. There may be an extension of the cylinder housing on which an additional clamping jaw is carried.

Hydraulically-operated stripping device

A vehicle rerailing device for use in difficult climates and the full range of temperature conditions present in such climates comprising rerailing elements connectable to and acting on a derailed and possibly overturned vehicle and hydraulic means which can be operated over said full range of temperature conditions to operate the rerailing elements. Said hydraulic means comprises a hydraulic lift device which includes a plurality of pressure displacement cylinders, each with a displaceable piston in it, a pressure chamber at one side of the piston and a second chamber at the other side of the piston. A high pressure generating unit is connected with the pressure chamber. A vacuum generator is connected with the pressure chamber. A control valve determines whether the pressure chamber is pressurized or is at reduced pressure to shift the piston, respectively, to lift the load or to return unloaded. To assist return of the unloaded piston, the chambers behind the pistons of at least some of the cylinders are pressurized at a lower pressure and permit return of the piston despite the condition of the hydraulic fluid induced by low temperature. The control valves are at a control table and the low pressure connections for return of the pistons are also at the table.
