A method of verifying a magnitude of a delivered output torque during a tightening operation of a threaded joint performed by a hand held power wrench including a housing, a motor, an output shaft, and a power transmission connecting the motor to the output shaft. The method includes: tightening the threaded joint; monitoring a magnitude of a direct torque acting along the power transmission during the tightening by at least one direct torque indicating sensor; monitoring a magnitude of a reaction torque transferred via the housing during the tightening by at least one reaction torque sensor; comparing the monitored magnitude of the direct torque with the monitored magnitude of the reaction torque; and determining, based on the comparison, whether the accuracy of the delivered output torque is acceptable.

Method for determining the magnitude of the output torque and a power wrench

A power tool including: a motor; a shaft for delivering a torque to a joint or the like, the shaft being drivingly connected to the motor; and a housing that at least partly houses the motor and the shaft. The shaft includes a longitudinal cavity in which a torque transducer is arranged to measure a torque acting over a portion of the shaft, wherein the longitudinal cavity includes: a first contact surface for torque transferring contact with a first end portion of the torque transducer; and a second contact surface, separated from the first contact surface, for torque transferring contact with a second end portion of the torque transducer, the portion over which the torque is measured being located between the first and second contact surfaces.

Power tool

A regulator for a power tool for tightening a fastener in order to unite two or more pieces into a joint. The regulator regulates the power tool when tightening the fastener such that the fastener is tightened to a predetermined target. The regulator calculates an output signal to the power tool, which output signal is based on the product of the torque exerted by the power tool on the fastener and the angle for turning the fastener about its axis. The output signal is used for tightening the fastener to the predetermined target. The regulator is also applicable to a power tool for a rivet joint.

A portable power wrench is controlled by an operation control unit and comprises a housing () with a rotation motor, a gear casing () including a gearing () and a drive spindle (} and being releasably and/or rotatably connected to the housing via a swivel or multi-position connection, an operation parameter sensing device () is associated with the drive spindle (). The sensing device () communicates with the operation control unit via a first signal transferring device () which is disposed between the drive spindle () and the gear casing (), and a second signal transferring device () is disposed between the gear casing () and the housing (), wherein the second signal transferring device () communicates with the operation control unit. At least the first signal transferring device () between the drive spindle () and the gear casing () comprises a contact free transfer device.

Portable power wrench with a gear casing and a parameter sensing device

A portable power drill includes a housing, a drilling implement carrying drive spindle, and a drive motor for rotating and axially feeding the drive spindle. The drive spindle is rotatively and axially displaceable relative to the housing and connected to the drive motor via angle gears, a feed mechanism and two bevel gears supported on the drive spindle. The drive motor is drivingly connected to the drive spindle via a belt drive transmission, a feed shaft, and an angle gear including an axially locked but rotative nut piece. The feed shaft is located in parallel with and coupled to the drive motor via a transmission and drivingly connected to said nut piece. The drive motor is an electric motor controlled and monitored by a programmable control unit.

Portable power drill with drilling implement rotating and feeding means

A portable power drill comprises a housing, a drilling implement carrying drive spindle, and two individually powered and controlled motors for rotating and axially feeding the drive spindle. The drive spindle is rotative and axially displaceable relative to the housing and connected to the drive and feed motors via angle gears including two bevel gears supported on the drive spindle. The feed via an axially locked but rotative nut piece and an external thread on the drive spindle, whereas the drive motor is drivingly connected to the drive spindle via longitudinal keyways on the drive spindle and mating splines in one of the bevel gears. The drive motor and the feed motor are electric motors controlled and monitored by a programmable control unit.

An electric assembly device for tightening of fastener includes a housing and a rotation. motor which is drivingly connected to an output shaft. The output shaft has a forward portion extending out of the housing, and is adapted to carry a coupling device for releasable coupling with a fastener during tightening, which is to be performed along a first rotation axis. The device is adapted to determine an angular displacement of the housing with respect to the first rotation axis during tightening of the fastener, and to control the rotation speed of the motor during tightening based on the determined angular displacement of the housing.

Method and device for tightening joints

A multi conductor flat type cable, which is intended for connecting a portable electric power tool to a stationary power supply and operation control unit, has a connector plug () attached to its one end, wherein the cable () has a twisted shape section (A) adjacent the connector plug () for facilitating universal bending of the cable (). The twisted section (A) is provided with a transition sleeve () with a cylindrical portion () at the connector plug end and two tapering tongues () extending along the cable () over at least a part of the twisted section (A), wherein the cable () is adapted to the cylindrical shape of the connector plug () and strengthened against too close bending in the twisted section (A). The transition sleeve () is molded onto the cable () in a first manufacturing step, and in a second step the cable () together with the transition sleeve () are heated to a certain temperature and twisted to assume the twisted shape in the section (A).

Multi conductor cable for a portable electric tool

A connector plug is provided for a multi-conductor cable with an axial load transferring non-conducting tensile string. The connector plug includes a casing carrying a number of contact elements attached to conductors of the cable for engaging corresponding contact elements connected to a matching jack, and the tensile string is anchored relative to the casing via an annular element mounted at the end of the cable. A transverse pin is firmly attached to the tensile string of the cable and positively engages the annular element. The annular element has a rim portion with a bigger outer diameter than an outer cross sectional dimension of the cable so as to engage an internal shoulder on the casing and enable transfer of axial load from the tensile string of the cable to the casing and further to a connected matching jack via the transverse pin and the annular element.

An axial flow turbine motor is provided which includes a rotor with a peripheral row of drive blades and a peripheral band-shaped wall element radially clamped against the tops of the drive blades, and a housing with at least one pressure medium inlet nozzle and an annular inner surface surrounding the rotor drive blades and the wall element, wherein the wall element is arranged to withstand centrifugal forces and uphold its clamping engagement with the drive blades at rotor speed levels up to a predetermined speed level, but to expand and loosen its clamping engagement with the drive blades at speed levels above the predetermined speed level, thereby moving into contact with the annular surface and interfering with the rotational movement of the rotor so as to prevent the rotor from reaching hazardous high speed levels.

Battery unit

A pneumatic high speed motor includes a stator housing, a rotor journalled in the stator housing, and a pressure air inlet passage. A speed governor for the motor includes a valve element that is shiftable between an open position and a closed position for controlling pressure air flow through the pressure air inlet passage, and a spring which continuously biases the valve element toward open position. An air compressor is driven by the rotor to deliver an output pressure, which is responsive to a speed of the rotor, to an activating surface of the valve element. The activating surface of the valve element is acted upon by the output pressure of the air compressor to shift the valve element toward the closed position against the bias force of the spring at rotor speed levels exceeding a desired operating speed level.
