A method for operating a system of the iron and steel industry for producing a metal product with participation of a severing or forming device. The actual value of an indicator be calculated over a length section of the metal product for the metal product to be produced. The indicator represents the resistance of the metal product to severing or forming processes. The calculated actual value pfor the indicator p is then compared to a predefined threshold value. The severing or forming also only actually takes place when the actual value of the indicator of the metal product is less than the threshold value. If a comparison should show that the actual value of the indicator is greater than the threshold value, before the severing or forming of the metal product, a local processing of the metal product is performed in the corresponding length section.

Method for operating a system of the iron and steel industry

A roller for a roller hearth furnace, the roller including a water-cooled, rotatably mounted carrying axle on which a plurality of support rings are arranged at a spacing from one another. In the axial region between and next to the support rings, the carrying axle is provided with insulation composed of a fiber material and configured with protection of the outer circumference of the fiber material from the environment. In the case of insulation constructed from ring-shaped punched parts, the insulation arranged in the axial region between and next to the support rings is composed of circular or ring-shaped punched fiber parts. A method and device for driving the support rolls of a continuous casting machine for liquid metals, which support rolls form a strand guide for the continuously cast strand. The strand guide includes electrically driven individual support rolls and/or hydraulically adjustable support roll segments. An automatic load balance control system for the drives is used as the sum of the individual forces for casting speed, motor torque, motor speed, and standard correction factors and is provided with individual adjustment of torque and speed of each drive support roll motor. A total driving torque for all drives is determined from the normal force of the driven drive support rolls and proportionately transmitted to each support roll in such a way that a static base setting of the torque distribution is used as the basis for the specific load capacity of each drive support roll.

Method and device for driving support rollers on a continuous casting machine for molten metals in particular for molten steel materials

The invention relates to a device for deflecting sections of strip, in particular metal strip, in a coiling plant, from a beginning guide channel () to an end guide channel () and vice-versa, comprising a driver () with a pair of driver rollers () and control elements arranged downstream in strip conveyance direction, comprising a switch () that can be swiveled towards the beginning guide channel () or the end guide channel (), and a guide table () which is swivelably supported under the switch () and positionable as a wiper against the lower driver roller (). The deflection of sections of strip is optimized in that the switch () is convexly shaped at its top and bottom sides and is flexibly arranged at the outlet end of an assigned strip transport roller-conveyor (), such that it clears the beginning guide channel () when in a raised position and rests in the function of a wiper against the upper driver roller (), and in that the guide table () is concavely shaped corresponding to the bottom of the switch (). An actuating mechanism each, for example, a hydraulic unit (), is assigned to both the switch () and the guide table ().
