In a clamping device () for machine tools () that is equipped with a power-operated chuck () and an electric drive motor () with a changeover function for triggering clamping movements, a motion converter () as well as a force accumulator () for maintaining the clamping force, which comprises several spring packs () supported on an adjustment element () of the motion converter (), the spring packs () are each only arranged on one side of the adjustment element (). In addition, a pressure piece () interacting with the adjustment element () is firmly connected to several spacer elements (), each of which carries a stop disc () and passes through the spring packs () as well as a spacer (). The spacer elements () and the spacers () can be adjusted relative to one another and the spacers () interact with spacer pins () which are guided through the pressure piece () and are supported on the wall () of the housing () opposite to the spring packs (). Due to this embodiment, the spring packs () are always preloaded and do not have any axial play, and the adjustment movements of the pressure piece can thus be registered and evaluated directly. Rather, the spring packs () have a defined preload at all times, with the effect that the operating method is improved compared to embodiments of prior art.

Clamping device

A clamping device for machine tools with a power-operated chuck, the clamping jaws of which are actuatable by the clamping device via a movement converter and draw rod. A drive motor is provided with a switching element which is adjustable by axial control in a middle and two limit positions, wherein the switching element is connectable to the clamping device in one limit position and, in the other limit position, to an adjustment element connectable to an auxiliary device. The switching element is lockable in the limit positions with a machine spindle. The clamping device is thereby provided with an increased range of applications, without functions being impaired, with little structural complexity, because the switching element makes possible a clamping element integrated in the power operated chuck to be operated using the drive motor, such that further procedures can be undertaken without changing the clamping device.

In a clamping device for machine tools, the device is provided with a power-operated chuck and clamping jaws actuated by a draw rod, the clamping device having an electrical servomotor with a changeover function, a movement converter, and a force accumulator for maintaining clamping force, the movement converter and the force accumulator being integrated in a tube-shaped jacket piece inserted in a housing of the clamping device and divided into two parts connected together. A spindle nut of the movement converter is rotatably supported between the two parts by a projection, and spring packs of the force accumulator are clamped between stop rings and a cover on the jacket piece. The jacket piece is mounted within the housing as to be moved axially by the draw rod via the movement converter. It is possible to determine the clamping force prevailing in the power-operated chuck using only one measuring point.

Clamping device for machine tools

A clamping unit () for machine tools () with a housing () connected in a rotationally fixed arrangement with a machine spindle, () and a screw drive () that interacts with a draw rod () such that rotational movements are converted into translational movements, the housing () being provided with an output element by which rotational movements are transmitted to an actuator (). The housing () has an input element in a rotating mounting, with the actuator () acting on the input element, and the input element () is in driving connection with a shaft () by means of intermediate elements (), whereby to direct rotational movements of the machine spindle () via the clamping unit (), and for adjustment movements of differently configured clamping devices, to be converted into axial adjustment movements and transmitted directly onto the draw rod (). No complicated electrical control devices and programs are required for adjusting and adapting a power chuck () linked to the draw rod () to different operating conditions.

Clamping unit

In a device (1) for supplying a pressurized medium from a fixed component (2) into a rotating component (3, 3'), with an axially aligned annular groove (14) and radially aligned sealing gaps (15, 16) provided between the two components, a circumferential pressure chamber (29, 30) is worked into each of the end surfaces (21, 22) which limit the radially aligned sealing gaps (15, 16), with radially aligned control slots (37, 38) connecting the pressure chambers (29, 30) to the annular groove (14). Furthermore, the end surfaces (21, 22) which are provided with pressure chambers (29, 30) are configured with equal areas. This embodiment prevents the two components (2, 3, 3') making contact under pressure and, instead, both components (2, 3, 3') level out in a central position. As a result, trouble free operation is assured over a long period.

Device for supplying a pressurized medium

In a device (1) for supplying a pressurized medium from a fixed component (2) into a rotating component (3) with a radially aligned sealing gap (11) provided between the components and in which the fixed component (2) comprises two rings (12, 13), the ring (13) delimiting the sealing gap (11) being held in an axially movable arrangement and with at least one control pressure chamber (35) provided between the two rings (12, 13), the movable ring (13) has an intermediate pressure chamber (31) on its end surface (16) facing the sealing gap (11) with this intermediate pressure chamber (31) being permanently connected to the control pressure chamber (35) by means of ducts (36, 37) worked into the axially movable ring (13). This embodiment allows the width of the radial sealing gap (11) to be set automatically, thereby practically precluding metal-on-metal friction between the components (2, 3) in the area of the radial sealing gap whilst only small leakage oil losses have to be accepted.

The device for transferring a pressure medium has a stationary outer component with first pressure medium channels and an inner, rotatably drivable component inside the stationary outer component radially spaced at a distance from the stationary outer component. The inner component has second pressure medium channels. The outer component is connected to the housing of a machine tool and the inner component is connected to the machine spindle. A first and a second intermediate member in the form of an annulus are provided. The first and second intermediate members are positioned fixedly in the space between the inner and the outer components for bridging the distance between them. The first intermediate member has at least one first connecting channel and the second intermediate member has at least one second connecting channel. The at least one first connecting channel connects one of the first pressure medium channels to one of the second pressure medium channels and the at least one second connecting channel connects one of the first pressure medium channels to one of the second pressure medium channels. The first and the second intermediate members are laterally supported at one of the components so as to each define two radially extending sealing gaps and are displaceable relative to the other of the components.

Device for transferring a pressure medium

A device for transferring a pressure medium has a first stationary component and a second component that is inserted into the first stationary component such that it is rotatably drivable therein. A first annular chamber is defined between the first stationary component and the second component and has a first and a second axial end. The first axial end is delimited at least partially by the first stationary component and the second axial end is delimited at least partially by the second component. An inlet line and an outlet line are connected to the first annular chamber. The outlet line guides the pressure medium to a consuming device. Radially extending sealing slots are defined between the first stationary component and the second component at the first and the second axial ends whereby the sealing slots have adjustable slot widths. The first and the second sealing slots are simultaneously adjustable into a same direction with respect to the slot width by an axial relative adjusting movement of the first stationary component and the second component.

Device for transmitting a pressure medium

A holding device on a turning machine for a workpiece, which is held by a chuck serving as a clamping device and being arranged at a receiving disk, is equipped with separate correcting elements disposed at the clamping device. The correcting elements may be controlled individually by electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic means. The correcting elements act on the clamping device in order to adjust the workpiece. It is thereby possible to adjust the clamping device itself in a defined manner, so that the clamped workpiece may be adjusted easily.

Holding device

A chucking device is provided that has displaceable base jaws that can be coupled with attachment jaws via respective one-piece securing bars that are axially supported and radially displaceably guided in a guide slot of the attachment jaw and an inclined guide slot of the base jaw. To effect radial shifting of the securing bars, an adjustment pin is disposed in the base jaw parallel to the guide slot thereof and is in operative connection with the securing bar via an undercut.

Chucking device

An apparatus for actuating clamping jaws of a chuck via an adjustment member that, to produce a rotational adjustment movement, is drivingly connected with an actuator formed from a reversible drive motor and a subsequent gear mechanism that is drivingly connected to the output side of the motor via a torque coupling. The gear mechanism is embodied as a two-stage synchronized gear in the form of a transmission gear drive having central gears that are rotatably mounted within one another and are drivingly connected via a step-type gearing to a drive member of the chuck and to the adjustment member. The central gears are drivingly and synchronously coupled via two transmission gears fixedly disposed on a transmission shaft that is rotatable about the central gears and engages the torque coupling in a load-dependent manner. The reduction stages of the transmission gear drive correspond to transmission stages of the step-type gearing.

Apparatus for actuating the clamping jaws of a chuck

An apparatus for operating the clamping jaws of a chuck. The clamping jaws are coupled with an adjustment member which, for producing an adjustment movement is in driving connection with an adjusting drive mechanism. The latter is formed by a two-part rotary motor that is disposed externally of the main spindle and is concentric thereto. The rotary motor is rotatably mounted as a self-contained unit. One functional member of the rotary motor is driveable directly by the main spindle and is drivingly supported thereon. The other functional member is drivingly connected with the adjustment member. To maintain the clamping force, the two functional members can be positively secured to one another. To undertake an adjustment movement, the two functional members can be infinitely variably moved relative to one another.

Apparatus for operating the clamping jaws of a chuck

In a self-centering steady rest (1) with three holding members (12,13,14) acting upon a workpiece (2) to be chucked, an adjusting member (15) interacting with the two outer holding members (13,14) is adjustable in the longitudinal direction (A) of the central holding member (12) by an adjustable distance corresponding to the sum of respective deformations of the outer holding members. This makes it possible to compensate not only the elastic deformations of the two outer holding members (13,14), but all back rest components involved in the transmission of forces. Consequently, reproducible centered chucking of the workpiece (2) can be accomplished at all times with great chucking accuracy.

In a device for the coupling of attachment chucking jaws (31) to basic jaws (11) which are movably guided in a chuck body (2) of a chuck (1), the basic jaws each have an extension (21), projecting in an axial direction, with a collar (23) projecting inwardly and/or outwardly on each extension. A recess (32) is machined into the attachment chucking jaws (31) which recess is provided with an undercut (33) and with a countersurface interacting with a stop surface of the extension (21). A locking member (41) is inserted into each basic jaw for arresting the attachment chucking jaws (31), which locking member is movable axially and introducible into the attachment chucking jaws. The actuation of the locking members is provided by an axially movable control element (42) which is automatically connected mechanically to the locking members (41) via an intermediate member (43) and/or via a deflection member (44). Due to this design the locking action is readily accomplished and monitored.

A lubricant dispenser for a viscous lubricant such as grease, for a chuck body of a power chuck, comprises a container for containing a supply of the viscous lubricant. A delivery plunger, which is in the container and acts on the lubricant, is continually subjected to the pressure of a pressure medium. This forces lubricant from the container into a flexible line which is connected to a pressure intensifier mounted on the chuck body. The pressure intensifier contains a pressure piston which is movable under the influence of an intermittently operating pressure medium, and which carries a displacement piston which can be engaged against a receiving insert of the chuck body to open a valve and close the discharge of lubricant from the pressure intensifier into the chuck body.
