A module for a fuel cell arrangement having several stacked plates. At least two of the plates have a common seal element of polymer material which is injected onto the plates and by which the plates are at least partially joined to one another. The plates can be provided with openings into which the seal element extends. The plates can be configured so that a cavity is defined between the plates, with the openings communicating with the cavity. The seal element can also have different cross-sectional configurations.

A flat sealing gasket includes a mat of non-woven material having opposite faces; a polymerized impregnating agent distributed with the material and an overlay on at least one of the mat faces. The overlay which comprises a hardened, pressure-resistant polymer material is sunken into the mat to a substantial extent of the mat thickness.

A flat sealing gasket includes an opening defined by a gasket edge and a sheet metal armor framing the gasket edge. The armor at least partially encloses an annular space which is situated radially inwardly of the gasket edge and is generally concentric with the gasket opening. Further, a graphite filling is accommodated in the annular space.

A cylinder head gasket for use in an internal combustion engine having a cylinder head accommodating a precombustion chamber block having a bottom face, one part of which is adapted to engage the cylinder head gasket. The cylinder head gasket has an opening adapted to be aligned with a combustion chamber of the internal combustin engine. There is provided a space in the cylinder head gasket adjacent the opening of the cylinder head gasket. The space is adapted to be in alignment with the bottom face of the precombustion chamber block and is occupied at least in part by a component of a high-temperature resistant material.
