A web winding up or unwinding device adapted for a web-form material coating machine comprises a web roll support, the web roll support comprising a web roll changing device, and a web edge guide device, the web edge guide device comprising a sensor device adapted for determining a shifting of a lateral edge of a web of the web-form material to be wound up on or unwound from the web roll arranged on the web roll support, a web roll support displacing device adapted for laterally displacing the web roll support, and a control device adapted for controlling the sensor device and the web roll support displacing device.

Automatic edge guide

The invention relates to an evaporator device with a receptacle for holding material to be evaporated. With this evaporator device an oil film can be applied onto specific sites of a sheet to be coated, this sheet being coated with aluminum or zinc in a further step. At the sites at which the oil film is located, no aluminum or zinc is deposited. With the aid of a rod valve, precise application of the oil onto the sheet is ensured. This rod valve is driven by a stepping motor, which can release percentage fractions of oil vapor.

Evaporation device with receptacle for receiving material to be evaporated

In a roller for guiding and stretching bands and/or film webs (21) for winding apparatus (FIG. 1), preferably for apparatus for the continuous vacuum vapor depositing or sputtering of plastic webs with a plurality of external drums (2) of identical configuration disposed side by side on the roller shaft (4) held in the manner of roller bearings for rotation on ball bearings (10), in which the external drums are held apart from one another without touching, and the film band or the film web (21) wraps partly around and at the same time lies with bias against portions of the cylindrical circumferential surface of the external drums, at least one profile bar (18) is held and guided longitudinally in a longitudinal groove (17) in the roller shaft (4), which cooperates with at least one ball-end pin (19) which is held in the drum mounting ring (8) associated with the external drum (2) and reaches radially downward into a recess (26) which is disposed on the profile bar (18), wherein a longitudinal displacement of the profile bar (18) turns the drum mounting rings (8) swivelingly mounted on the roller shaft (4), with respect to the longitudinal axis of the roller shaft (4).

Roller for guiding and stretching bands and film webs

A tubular stroboscope is interposed in the line of sight between a viewing glass and a process to be viewed in a chamber. The stroboscope is rotated about a central axis transverse to the line of sight and has a pair of diametrically opposed slots parallel to said axis, one slot being substantially wider than the opposite slot. The stroboscope is preferably driven by a jet of inert gas acting on a drive wheel inside the chamber, aspiration means being provided for dust removal.

Apparatus for the observation of processes

A vacuum tank (1) in which a film is coated under high vacuum is divided by a partition wall (26) into a coating chamber (28) and a winding chamber (27) containing a supply roll (21) and a take-up roll (22). The coating chamber (28) contains an evaporator bank (24). Into the latter a coating cylinder (27) reaches. Diffusion pumps (14, 15) are connected exclusively to the coating chamber (28), so that the high vacuum necessary for the coating need be produced only in this coating chamber (28) and not in the entire vacuum tank (1). An inflatable gasket (32), variable in cross section, seals the partition wall (26) from the vacuum tank wall (1).

High-vacuum coating apparatus

A high-vacuum coating apparatus for coating films has beneath its coating cylinder (7) a pivoting unit (8) which can turn on a pivot shaft (25). It has an adjustable mask (29) and thereunder a shutter (28) which can run from a position covering an evaporator to a position releasing it. Due to its ability to turn, the pivoting unit (8) together with its parts can easily be cleaned.
