Apparatus and methods for retrieving a foreign body from a vasculature are provided. The devices can be Funnel-trap type retrieval devices. The devices can include a compressible support member extending from the distal end of an elongate shaft, the compressible support member having an expanded configuration, a compressed configuration, a plurality of independent elongate support elements that have a memory for the funnel-shaped expanded configuration, and a cover material that covers the compressible support member and forms a pocket configured for capturing the foreign body in the interior of the compressible support member.

Apparatus and methods for retrieving a foreign body from a vasculature

Funnel-trap type delivery and/or retrieval devices for Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) filters or other medical implants are described in which the devices comprise two layers of braid with an axially support member. The support member may be interposed between braid layers or set inside the braid layers but interposed between heatset features. Stents and methods for repairing pipes

A system and method for delivering an embolic device are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system and method may be directed to a combination of a catheter, coupler, and embolic device. The coupler is disposed inside of the catheter. The embolic device is coupled with a retaining mechanism at the proximal end. Until the embolic device is delivered to a certain location within an artery, the embolic device is engaged with the catheter by engaging the coupler with the retaining mechanism. The embolic device is further secured to the delivery catheter by securing the coupler with a securing mechanism formed on the catheter. When the delivery catheter reaches the desired location in the artery, the embolic device is released from the delivery catheter by simply pulling the coupler proximally such that the loop portion of the coupler first becomes disengaged from the locking window and then from the retaining mechanism.

System and method for delivering an embolic device

These methods may employ a locking sheath or a proximal-aperture capture feature for IVC filter (or other device) retrieval. One of the methods includes: passing an elongate member having a braided funnel-shaped distal extension through a sheath, where the braided funnel-shaped distal extension includes a distal bend to form a distal aperture and a flap that defines a proximal aperture; passing an end of the medical device through the distal aperture and then through the proximal aperture to capture the medical device; and covering the medical device with the sheath.
