Disposable, pre-sterilized, and pre-calibrated, pre-validated sensor components are provided. The sensor components interact with a sensor system having disposable fluid conduit or bioreactor bag and a reusable sensor assembly. The components can include an optical bench or inset optical component or module designed to be integrated within the disposable fluid conduit or bioreactor bag, which provides an optical light path through the conduit or bag. The sensors systems are designed to store sensor-specific information, such as calibration and production information, in a non-volatile memory chip on the disposable fluid conduit or bag and on the reusable sensor assembly. Methods for calibrating the sensor and for determining a target property of an unknown fluid are also disclosed. The devices, systems and methods relating to the sensor are suitable for and can be outfitted for turbidity sensing.

Optical sensors for monitoring biopharmaceutical solutions in single-use containers

Presteralized manifolds having disposable multifunctional sensors are provided which are designed for sterile packaging and single-use approaches. These manifolds, which have disposable tubing and flexible-wall containers and are adapted to interact with other equipment which can be operated by a controller and a flow-imparting unit, provide automated and accurate delivery or purification of biotechnology fluid. The disposable sensor monitors pH, oxygen and electrical conductivity, alone or in combination, that interact with the controller or are connected to a separate user interface. Disposable sensor components and re-usable components can be dockable with each other.

Single-use sensors in bioreactors, biotech purification and bioprocessing

Presteralized manifolds are provided which are designed for sterile packaging and single-use approaches. Disposable tubing and flexible-wall containers are assembled via aseptic connectors. These manifolds are adapted to interact with other equipment which can be operated by a controller which provides automated and accurate delivery of biotechnology fluid. The manifold also can be used in conjunction with one or more sensors such as pressure and conductivity sensors that interact with the controller or are connected to a separate user interface. An aseptic environment obtains avoiding or reducing cleaning and quality assurance procedures.

Single-use manifolds for automated, aseptic handling of solutions in bioprocessing applications

Single-use, pre-sterilized, and pre-calibrated, pre-validated sensors are provided. These sensors are designed to store sensor-specific information, such as calibration and production information, in a non-volatile memory chip on the sensor or in a barcode printed on the sensor. These sensors may be utilized with in-line systems, closed fluid circuits, bioprocessing systems, or systems which require an aseptic environment while avoiding or reducing cleaning procedures and quality assurance variances. The sensors exhibit both their primary sensing function such as conductivity, pH level, dissolved oxygen, pressure or temperature, as well as at least one secondary sensing function of risk management or risk mitigation.

A method and system are provided for high-precision separation of pharmaceutical or biotechnology liquids. The separation can be in accordance with direct flow filtration, tangential flow filtration or preparative chromatography. Movement of the pharmaceutical or biotechnology liquid within a flow path is controlled according to a selected pattern. Selected patterns include automatically and progressively increasing the flow rate within the unit, automatically and progressively increasing the pressure within the unit or initially proceeding according to a relatively high constant flow rate and switching to a relatively high constant pressure at a time when a given parameter is attained.

Single-use manifold for automated, aseptic transfer of solutions in bioprocessing applications

A system is provided for proceeding with filtration of liquids in a manner having enhanced control characteristics. Yields are enhanced. The system and method can be used to maintain a substantially constant trans-membrane pressure. When desired, that constant trans-membrane pressure is especially well-suited to yield enhancement for the particular liquid being filtered, concentrated or collected, while minimizing a risk of damage to or loss of valuable components. Additionally, a constant feed rate or pump output can be maintained.
