The urine measuring device comprises at the lower end of a drip chamber ( ) an antireflux valve which prevents liquid from a measuring chamber ( ) from refluxing into the drip chamber ( ). A valve plate ( ) capable of closing the valve opening ( ) comprises a loose part which is loosely arranged in the valve chamber ( ) and rests on a bracket ( ) when the urine measuring device is in upright position. If the urine measuring device is tilted, the urine contained in the measuring chamber ( ) presses the valve plate ( ) against the valve seat ( ) so that reflux into the drip chamber ( ) is prevented.

Urine measuring device

The urine measuring device comprises a holder (25) to be attached to the bed, which is provided with a measuring container (10) and a collecting bag (33). The measuring container (10) includes an overflow connection (22) which forms, together with the connecting tube (23) of the holder (25), a tube coupling (40). For emptying purposes the measuring container (10) can be swung up about the axis of the tube coupling (40). The urine is then discharged from the measuring container through the overflow connection (22) and the connecting tube (23) of the holder (25) into the collecting bag (33). Subsequently the empty measuring container (10) merely needs to be swung back into its position of use. This facilitates emptying of the measuring container since the container needs not be removed and attached again.

A valve device for a hub member of a catheter or the like. An open cup-shaped hollow cylinder with a slit bottom portion is axially displaceable in the chamber of the housing of the hub member. In the closed position, a helical spring presses the edge of the opening of the hollow cylinder against the inner end of an insertion opening for a connecting member. The insertion opening is formed at the housing and has a diameter larger than the inner circumference of the edge of the opening of the hollow cylinder. The bottom portion is pulled into an adapted central hole of a closing ring fixed in the housing, through which hole the bottom portion may be pushed axially against the spring action for releasing its legs formed by the slit. Throughout this operation the resilient hollow cylinder is free of stresses, so that the edges of the slit in the bottom portion are not deformed. Nevertheless, the closing ring ensures an effective closure of the flow channel in the hub member, sealing it both against air entering the hub member and against blood oozing out.

Hub member

A coupling assembly for connecting a flexible catheter to the hub cone of a sheath for inserting the catheter into a punctured body cavity consists of a housing having two separable housing halves which jointly form a passage for the catheter and have their patient-proximal front end provided with a tip for insertion into the hub cone of the sheath. In the passage, there is arranged shaped sealing formed as a hollow cylinder of an elastic material, provided as a tube tightly surrounding the catheter and having a thickened head portion. The outer diameter of the head portion is adapted to the outer diameter of the tip of the housing, and the tube is inserted into a widened portion of the passage such that the head portion of the tube abuts against the front face of the tip. Such a shaped sealing acts as a closing stopper which prevents that blood can travel rearward between the separating slits of the housing halves and escape to the outside.

Coupling assembly

A secretion collecting device consists of a rigid holder, from which a bag is suspended. A secretion drainage tube running from the patient is connected to a pipe on the holder. The bag has a tube one end of which enters the interior space of the bag and the other end of which projects from the bag and is pushed telescopically onto the lower end of the pipe. The bag tube can slide with respect to the pipe so that the connection adjusts to shifts and deformations of the bag without becoming loose or separating.

Body secretion collecting device with improved liquid conduit connection

A coupling for connecting the ends of medical apparatus tubes. The coupling has male and female conical mating elements on first and second end pieces. Each end piece is adapted to receive the end of a tube. The end pieces are locked together to prevent unintentional separation. Locking is achieved by at least one finger extending from one end piece to the other end piece. The finger, in addition to its locking function, resists tension when tensile stress is applied to a coupled tube.

A valve for simultaneously closing the outlets of a plurality of containers in communication with the valve, and an outlet from the valve, comprising a valve housing having a plurality of inlet openings corresponding to the number of container outlets to be sealed, and at least one outlet; a sealing element adjustably positioned in the valve housing for simultaneously sealing the valve housing inlets and outlet so as to seal off liquid communication between the containers, and between the containers and the exterior; and an arm connected to the sealing element for actuation of the sealing element exterior of the valve housing.
