Curable adhesive compositions are provided that can be cured using ultraviolet or visible light radiation. These curable adhesive compositions, which contain a curable (meth)acrylate copolymer, have a creep compliance that is less than 5(10) inverse Pascals at 25&#xb0; C., a creep compliance that is greater than 1(10) inverse Pascals at 70&#xb0; C., and a shear storage modulus greater than 40 kiloPascals when measured at 25&#xb0; C. at a frequency of 1 radian/second.

Curable and cured adhesive compositions

The present disclosure provides an adhesive composition including a silicone-based adhesive and cellulose nanocrystals dispersed in the silicone-based adhesive. The present disclosure also provides an article including a substrate and a layer of the adhesive composition adhered to the substrate. Further, the present disclosure provides a method of making an adhesive composition. The method comprises mixing cellulose nanocrystals in a silicone-based adhesive to disperse the cellulose nanocrystals. The present disclosure additionally provides a method of making an article including disposing a layer of the adhesive composition on a substrate. The presence of the cellulose nanocrystals advantageously increases the water uptake capacity of the silicone-based adhesive while maintaining acceptable adhesive performance.

Composition containing a silicone-based adhesive and cellulose nanocrystals, and methods and articles

Crosslinkable compositions, crosslinked compositions, articles containing these compositions, and methods of making the articles are provided. The crosslinkable compositions, which include two (meth)acrylate polymers, are used to form the crosslinked compositions upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation. The crosslinkable and crosslinked compositions are free or substantially free of tackifiers. The crosslinked compositions can function as pressure-sensitive adhesives. The crosslinkable compositions are well suited for use with hot melt processing methods.

Crosslinkable and crosslinked compositions

Optically clear adhesive compositions contain an elastomeric polymer and a low molecular weight polymeric additive. The elastomeric polymer and the low molecular weight polymeric additive form an acid-base interaction. The refractive index of the adhesive composition is higher than the refractive index of the elastomeric polymer. The adhesive composition may also contain additional domains of liquids, polymers, additives or particles that have a higher refractive index than the elastomeric polymer.

Optically clear high refractive index adhesives

An adhesive composition includes a first acrylic polymer preparable from first components and a second acrylic polymer. The first components comprising i) a branched first alkyl (meth)acrylate having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms, and ii) at least one of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid. The second acrylic polymer is preparable from second components comprising iii) at least one second alkyl (meth)acrylate having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms, iv) a (meth)acrylamide represented by the formula wherein Ris H or methyl, and Rand Reach independently represents H or an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or taken together Rand Rmay form a divalent alkylene group having from 4 to 6 carbon atoms, and v) at least one high Tmacromer having a terminal free-radically polymerizable unsaturated group, the high Tmacromer having a Tof at least 45&#xb0; C. Based on the combined total weight of the at least one first acrylic polymer and the at least one second acrylic polymer, the at least one second acrylic polymer is present at a level of from 5 to 40 percent by weight. Methods of making the adhesive composition are also disclosed.

Polydiorganosiloxane polyoxamide, linear, block copolymers and methods of making the copolymers are provided. The method of making the copolymers involves reacting a diamine with a precursor having at least one polydiorganosiloxane segment and at least two oxalyamino groups. The polydiorganosiloxane polyoxamide block copolymers are of the (AB)type.

Polydiorganosiloxane polyoxamide copolymers

A method for immobilizing an amino-containing material to a substrate is described. The method involves providing a tethering compound with two reactive groups: a substrate reactive group and a fluoroalkoxycarbonyl group. The method further involves preparing a substrate-attached tethering group by reacting the substrate reactive group of the tethering compound with a complementary functional group on the surface of a substrate. The substrate-attached tethering group has a fluoroalkoxycarbonyl group that can be reacted with an amino-containing material to form an immobilization group that connects the amino-containing material to the substrate.

The method of making the copolymers involves reacting a diamine with a polydiorganosiloxane precursor having oxalylamino groups.
