The invention relates to an electric fuse with a fuse element located in a housing which encases a fuse element chamber. The fuse element melts and thus cuts out the fuse under an overcharge, whereby the temperature and pressure in the interior of the casing will abruptly rise. The housing is provided with a pressure relief means through which at least part of the gas volume can be let off to the outside to prevent the housing from destruction if high internal pressure peak values occur on cutting out the fuse.

Electric fuse

The invention relates to a fuse holder, which essentially comprises a casing and a carrier which can be engaged therein with the aid of a bayonet-lock between which is resiliently received e.g. a fuse link. While a conventional foot contact on the bottom of the casing ensures an electric supply, a contact bridge metal strip in the carrier provides an electrical connection with the other cap of the fuse link to a side contact in the casing. The contacting takes place only when the carrier is turned fully home in the one pin bayonet-lock which thus allows only one locked position between the carrier and the casing.

Fuse holder

A sub-miniature fuse having a fusible conductor which will fuse under an over-current condition within a pressure-tight chamber. A metal surface is positioned near the fusible conductor within the chamber and is formed and positioned relative to the fusible conductor so that during the switching off of the fuse, any arc created between the fused ends jumps over to the metal surface. Thus, at least one secondary arc is created which burns against the metal surface as a shunt line. By melting a part of the metal surface, sufficient heat is absorbed that the secondary arc is quenched.

High current capacity sub-miniature fuse

An electrical fuse comprises a fusible conductor welded or bonded onto separated contact surfaces. The fusible conductor is coated with a metal, selected solely for optimum welding or bonding to contact zones of the contact surfaces. The metallic coating of the fusible conductor is then removed at the fusible portion of the coated fusible conductor by etching after the fusible conductor is welded or bonded to the contact surfaces the contact zones surrounding the point of contact protected by a resin cover resistant to the etchant. The electrical characteristic of the fuse is thus determined solely by the core wire and its properties. The resin cover in the contact zones is preserved between the fusible conductor and each contact surface for improved safety against cracks or micro-cracks and their possible adverse effects.

Electrical fuse and method for its production

The invention relates to a method for the production of a sub-miniature fuse, as well as to a sub-miniature fuse. Known casing with three chambers and a separate cover are difficult to manufacture and are prone to faults due to their complicated shape. According to the invention, an internally substantially smooth surface and externally cylindrical casing is formed, preferably from identical tube halves, whose end faces are closed either by correspondingly constructed connecting electrodes or by concomitantly shaped end walls, the electrodes always carrying the fuse wire on their inside and the connecting leads on their outside. Preference is given to the use of an intermediate member, which encloses the electrodes and the fuse wire fixed thereto. In each case production is simplified. There is also no need for shrink-on tubes for the insulation of contact caps.
