The bending flexibility profile of a stent closely matches the flexibilities of the stent delivery system on either side of the stent. In one embodiment, a stent has a longitudinal axis and at least one link attaching each ring to an adjacent ring. The links closest to the stent end rings have the greatest bending flexibility and the links closest to the center of the stent have the least bending flexibility.

An anchor for use with a closure device includes a body being configured to move from a pre-deployed state to a deployed state. In the pre-deployed state, the body has a first width aspect relative to a direction of deployment and a second width aspect in the deployed state relative to the direction of deployment, the second width aspect being greater than the first width aspect and the body being formed from a rapidly eroding material configured to erode through dissolution within a body lumen.

Methods for making devices include providing a tubular member to be formed into a device, placing a removable sacrificial block material in the lumen of the tubular member and laser cutting the tubular member. A tubular member made from nickel-titanium alloy can be tightly adhered to a sacrificial sleeve utilizing the phase changes associated with nickel-titanium. A mandrel which includes an enlarged diameter section causes the workpiece to expand slightly within its elastic deformation range to dislodge islands from the workpiece. Such a mandrel could be formed from a tubular member which has a central lumen that can be used to deliver a pressurized medium to 'blast' islands from the workpiece.

The present invention relates to an endoprosthesis for delivery in a body lumen that includes a plurality of web rings coupled one to the other by flexible connectors, which are structured to absorb at least some of the axial and torsional stresses applied to the endoprosthesis and to improve resistance of the endoprosthesis to clinical fatigue. The connectors are each composed of struts sequentially adjoined one to the other, with foot-shaped extensions protruding at the intersections of pairs of the struts.

An apparatus and process is disclosed for the electrolytic removal of metal from a device, such as a medical device. More particularly, the apparatus of the invention includes a mandrel having slots or openings therein to expose portions of a metallic device, such as a stent, to an electrolytic solution to remove metal from the exposed portion.
