A method for treating odorous gases of a chemical pulp mill, according to which method odorous gases are combusted in a separate combustion device and flue gas generated therein is scrubbed. The scrubbed flue gas is led into a recovery boiler. The flue gas is scrubbed in a series of scrubbers wherein scrubbing solution discharged from one scrubber may be fed to a preceding scrubber.

Method in the treatment of odorous gases of a chemical pulp mill

A cooling system for air ports and other ports in furnace walls includes a cooling medium pumping system and ports provided with a cooling medium piping or channels inside the metallic port material. The liquid flow generated by the cooling medium system cools the ports. The ports are constructed of a casting material, and the ports are provided with a cooling liquid flow, which passes in a piping or pipings or channels inside the casting material of the ports.

An arrangement is disclosed for supplying an air jet form to the furnace of a recovery boiler, where the furnace has a front wall, a rear wall and side walls. Black liquor spraying devices are disposed on the furnace walls on one or several levels of the furnace. A plurality of air ports are located at several horizontal elevations for introducing air into the furnace from an air supply. In the arrangement for the secondary air flows, at least two horizontal air levels at different elevations are arranged above the lower primary levels and below the black liquor sprayer. Secondary air is supplied from two opposite walls. The secondary air ports on each of said first and second horizontal elevations comprise air ports for each horizontal elevation that project a pattern of large air jets into the furnace from said opposite walls and said secondary air ports further comprise a plurality of secondary air ports on at least one of the elevations that project smaller air jets into the furnace.

Method and system for controlling the operation of a recovery boiler or another boiler having a furnace wherein the operation is monitored by monitoring sensors, the sensors converting the acquired electromagnetic radiation to electrical signals which are conducted to image processing which forms an image of an object, such as the char bed and/or the char and/or chemicals on the furnace walls and/or deposits on boiler surfaces, based on the data from the sensors, and wherein the operation, such as burning of the char bed and/or the formation of char and/or chemicals on the furnace walls and/or the formation of deposits on boiler surfaces, is controlled with help of the image, wherein the sensors are arranged to produce sensor signals for 3D (three-dimensional) imaging, wherein the sensor signals are conducted to the image processing unit for forming a 3D image, such as an image of the bed and/or the char and/or the chemicals, and/or its shape describing derivatives, and/or temperature chart of the bed surface, and wherein the image processing further comprises a filtering phase wherein the sensor signals or the 3D image are/is filtered in order to avoid the thermal radiation emission of hot gases, liquids and/or particles in the furnace, wherein the sensor signals or the 3D image are/is conducted to a filter unit filtering the signals/images to several relatively narrow bands (BANDto BANDn), whereby the final 3D image is obtained by comparative analysis of the sensor signals or the 3D images from the chosen different frequency bands.

A spent liquor recovery boiler system including a boiler having a water/steam circulation system with superheaters and a furnace for recovering energy and chemicals from spent liquor combusted therein, the walls of the boiler are formed of a plurality of water-cooled tubes connected to the water/steam circulation system. The system is provided with at least one cavity having walls formed of water-cooled tubes connected to the water/steam circulation system, means for combusting a fuel and at least one outlet for discharging combustion gases to the boiler, the interior of the at least one cavity being provided with heat exchanger means for final superheating of the steam generated in the boiler, said heat exchanger means being connected to the superheaters of the boiler.

Apparatus and method for producing energy at a pulp mill

The present invention relates to a method for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions in combustion. Fuel is combusted in a first zone, whereby nitrogen oxides are generated. Supplementary fuel is fed in another zone under reducing conditions. At the same time, the temperature is adjusted so that nitrogen oxides convert essentially to hydrogen cyanide. Finally, air is fed in for finalizing the combustion and converting the hydrogen cyanide into nitrogen.

The air jets of said at least two air levels are located substantially one above each other in substantially vertical rows.

The invention relates to a method and an arrangement in the production of electric energy in a boiler plant of a pulp mill. Black liquor having a dry solids content of more than 80% and combustion air are fed into a furnace of a recovery boiler for combusting black liquor and recovering chemicals contained therein. The flue gases generated in the combustion are led into an economizer of the recovery boiler, in which economizer the feed water for the boiler is heated, and after the economizer to gas cleaning. The feed water is led from the economizer onto the steam-generating bank at a temperature below the saturation temperature and further into a superheater to produce steam having a pressure of more than 80 bar. The steam is led from the recovery boiler to a steam turbine to produce electricity. The temperature of the feed water being led into the economizer is regulated by means of bleed steam of the turbine so that the flue gases exit the economizer at a temperature of more than 250&deg; C. and that after the economizer the flue gases are cleaned in at least a hot electrostatic precipitator and the cleaned flue gases are cooled by the combustion air or the feed water.

Method and arrangement for producing electrical energy at a pulp mill

A method of removing nitrogen oxides from flue gases of a cellulose pulp mill recovery boiler does so in a cost effective and environmentally friendly manner. In the heat recovery section of the recovery boiler, a peroxide solution (e.g. a water solution containing about 1-35% hydrogen peroxide) is brought into contact with (e.g. sprayed into) the flue gases in the heat recovery section, so that the flue gases and the peroxide remain in contact between about 0.5-5 (preferably between about 1-2) seconds. The majority (e.g. about 60-90%) of the nitrogen oxides are converted to nitrogen dioxide. The temperature of the flue gases at the time of contact with the peroxide solution is between about 300-800.degree. (preferably 400-600.degree.) C. The nitrogen dioxide is removed by scrubbing the flue gases, downstream of the recovery boiler, with an alkaline liquid (e.g. a liquid otherwise used in the pulp mill having a pH of greater than 9) to convert the majority of the nitrogen dioxides into nitrate. The nitrate may be used as a nutrient in a biological effluent treatment plant within the pulp mill.
