An implantable prosthesis anchorage which contains a non-porous outer coating in the regions which is positioned in contact with bone. The non-porous outer coating consists of (i) at least one bioactive resorbable ceramic material which is a calcium phosphate and (ii) at least one polymer which is mechanically and chemically stable in the body. The ceramic material is in particulate form having particle diameters between 0.5 and 1 mm. The ceramic material particles is incorporated in the polymer in such a way that resorption of the ceramic material leads to a polymer structure with continuous pores filled with living bone tissue. Bioactivating bonding residues of the ceramic material are left on the inner surfaces of the filled pores which were created by the resorption of the ceramic material.

Anchorage for highly stressed endoprostheses

Bone replacement or prosthesis anchoring material on the basis of sintered calcium phosphates which consists of a mixture of calcium phosphates with low or high-molecular-weight organic substances. More specifically, the anchoring material consists of a mixture of calcium phosphates composed of CaO and P.sub.2 O.sub.5 in a quantitative ratio of 2:1 to 4:1 with biodegradable polymers in a ratio of 10:1 to 1:1 of phosphate to polymer and is implantable as a solid body. A method for the production of the material wherein calcium phosphate with a porosity of 15 to 30 volume percent is used and its pores are filled by impregnation with polymer material.

Bone replacement or prosthesis anchoring material

An artificial tooth with an implantable root adapted to permanently grow together with the jawbone and, also under high mechanical loads as is the case for natural teeth, will not allow for the production of a rejection or repelling reaction between the natural bone and the implant. The tooth root is essentially constituted of a biostable polymer matrix which is compatible with human tissue, in which there is introduced reabsorbable bioreactive calcium phospate in a finely dispersed form, which is encompassed by a thin porous layer of non-reabsorbable calcium phospate, and into which there is inserted a core as a connecting member for the mounting of a dental superstructure in the form of a tooth crown, a fastening element for dental bridges or the like. In the region of the tooth neck which is encompassed by the gingiva, an intermediate member is located between the tooth root and the superstructure, which is formed of tissue-compatible material and which supports the close contact of the gingiva, and by means of which the dental superstructure is connected with the tooth root in a shock-absorbent manner.
