Oral care compositions and methods for whitening teeth

Described herein are packages for storing and dispensing multi-part tooth whitening formulations, comprising a deformable material configured to form two or more sealed chambers, e.g., wherein the first chamber contains a low viscosity liquid solution comprising an enzyme having perhydrolytic activity, and the second chamber contains a peroxide source and a at least one acyl donor substrate. Particular multi-part tooth whitening formulations using this principle and methods of use thereof are also provided.

Described herein are tooth whitening strips comprising an hydratable adhesive film having a granular bleaching ingredient attached thereto, wherein upon hydration, the granular bleaching ingredient releases hydrogen peroxide which is used by an enzyme catalyst having perhydrolytic activity to enzymatically produce an effective amount of peracid bleaching agent from an acyl donor substrate. Disclosed herein are compositions and methods to treat an oral cavity surface with a peracid-based benefit agent. The peracid benefit agent can be use for oral surface bleaching, whitening, disinfecting, destaining, deodorizing, decreasing or removing biofilm, and combinations thereof. The peracid is enzymatically generated from a carboxylic acid ester substrate using a CE-7 carbohydrate esterase having perhydrolytic activity (perhydrolase) in the presence of a source of peroxygen. A fusion protein comprising the perhydrolase coupled to a peptidic component having affinity for an oral cavity surface, either directly or through an optional linker, may be used to target the perhydrolytic activity to the oral cavity surface.

Enzymatic peracid generation for use in oral care products

Peptide-based reagents comprising at least one tooth surface-binding peptide for delivery of at least one polymer-coated white colorant to the surface of teeth are provided. The peptide-based reagent may comprise at least one tooth-binding peptide coupled to, either directly or through one or more spacers, a polymer-binding peptide capable of binding to the polymeric coating on a polymer-coated white colorant. Methods of delivering a polymer-coated white colorant to a tooth surface are also provided as well as oral care compositions comprising the present peptide-based reagents. The peptide-based reagents may be used in conjunction with at least one polymer-coated white colorant to improve the cosmetic appearance of teeth.
