Apparatuses, methods, and program products are disclosed for controlling appliances. One apparatus includes a processor, and a memory that stores code executable by the processor. The code is executable by the processor to receive control data from an application. The control data corresponds to multiple appliance types. The code is executable by the processor to control a first appliance type of the multiple appliance types as a direct result of receiving the control data. The code is executable by the processor to control a second appliance type of the multiple appliance types as a direct result of receiving the control data.

Apparatus, method, and program product for controlling appliances

An embodiment provides a method, including: accepting, at an input surface, handwriting input; identifying, using one or more processors, one or more characters included in the handwriting input; modifying one or more of the one or more characters included in the handwriting input to match penmanship; and rendering, on a display device, the handwriting input including one or more modified characters. Information handling device handwriting clean-up

An approach is provided to display a grid user-interface on a display. The grid user-interface includes a number of medium-sized windows that are displayed in a grid format. Each of the medium-sized windows has a substantially common width and a substantially common height to the other medium-sized windows. The system receives a mixed-mode request from a user. The mixed-mode request corresponds to a selected application that is displayed in one of the medium-sized windows. A second user-interface is displayed in response to receiving the mixed-mode request. The selected application is displayed in a large window and a plurality of small-sized windows is displayed adjacent to the large window. Each of the small-sized windows also has a substantially common width and a substantially common height to the other small-sized windows.

A method can include accessing content stored in a data store where the content includes a bound and content adjacent to the bound; rendering a portion of the content to a display; receiving a scroll command that calls for rendering the content adjacent to the bound; and, responsive to receipt of the scroll command, rendering a bound graphic. Systems, methods and products directed toward coordinating power states in a hybrid information handling device are described herein. One aspect includes a method including: providing a primary operating environment and a secondary operating environment in an information handling device; ascertaining a trigger event for switching between the primary operating environment and the secondary operating environment; providing power state transitioning responsive to the trigger event; and placing one of the primary operating environment and the secondary operating environment in a working state while one of the primary operating environment and the secondary operating environment is in a sleeping state. Coordinating power states in a hybrid information handling device

Systems, methods and products are described that provide homepage re-assignment. One aspect includes displaying a default homepage desktop view from among a plurality of scrollable desktop views; receiving user input via a user input device; opening a homepage re-assignment utility responsive to receiving said user input, said homepage re-assignment utility including a display indicating one or more desktop views selectable as a new homepage; and responsive to receiving a user input indicating a selection of a desktop view as a new homepage, changing a default homepage setting to a desktop view selected as a new homepage. One aspect includes providing a dock point on a display device of an information handling device; responsive to user input associated with said dock point, launching a utility organizing a sub-set of user applications installed on said information handling device in a predetermined arrangement of launch points; providing an animated movement of said launch points in said utility responsive to user input; and responsive to user input selecting a launch point in said utility, launching an application associated with said launch point on the information handling device. For rotational graphical user interface navigation, a display module displays a first face of a uniform prism rotatable only about a central horizontal axis. The uniform prism includes a plurality of faces. Each face has Graphical User Interface (GUI) controls for a unique function set. Only one face of the uniform prism is visible at a time. Each face is displayed with a geometric shape conforming to a face geometry of the multidimensional solid when the multidimensional solid is being rotated, and a face is displayed as filling a screen when the multidimensional solid is not being rotated. An input module receives a rotational command. The rotational command rotates the uniform prism around the central horizontal axis. The rotation module rotates the uniform prism to display a second face in response to the rotational command, displaying the rotation of the uniform prism.

One aspect provides a method including opening a file transfer application on an information handling device having an internal storage device; providing a source display area indicating a source storage device; providing a destination display area indicating a destination storage device; responsive to movement of one or more file icons a predetermined threshold amount beyond a boundary separating said source display area and said destination display area, change one or more indications to indicate to a user a destination storage device to which one or more files is to be transferred, said changing further comprising modifying screen brightness of the source display area; and responsive to movement of said one or more file icons a predetermined threshold amount beyond said boundary, transferring said one or more files to said destination storage device.
