A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus for providing a healthier food purchase suggestion to a shopper are disclosed. For example, the method receives a selection of a food item that the shopper has selected to purchase, determines one or more healthier food items that have a higher score than a score of the food item that the shopper has selected, selects one of the one or more healthier food items based upon a profile of the shopper, provides the one of the one or more healthier food items that is selected as the healthier food purchase suggestion to the shopper.

Described herein is a method of calibrating displays (or printers) using Natural Language-based commands. The exemplary method provides an easy-to-use solution to the common methods of color calibrating a display. Instead of using sliders or manual controls for the individual dimensions of a three-dimensional color problem, the user is able to make adjustments via natural language commands, such as 'make reference patch less purple.' The method does not require the user to understand color mixing technology when making separate R, G, and B adjustments to match a specified patch. A user can easily express the necessary color adjustment in natural language terms, making the process simpler and faster.

Language-based color calibration of displays

Embodiments described herein include a component specific natural language color unit for modifying colors of image components in an image using component specific natural language commands. The CSNLC unit can receive a component specific natural language color command for a color modification of an input image. The component specific natural language color command can include a component identifier and a color modifier. The natural language command can be parsed to attribute the component identifier to an image component in the input image and to attribute the color modifier to a predefined color space associated with the image component. The color modifier can indicate the color modification to be performed. The color modification can be applied to the image component to adjust the color of the image component.

A method of editing color characteristics of an electronic image includes: a) receiving an original electronic image at a color editing subsystem; b) analyzing the original electronic image to identify original color characteristics and to identify a recommended set of color editing options, the recommended set of color editing options being less than a complete set of color editing options provided by the color editing subsystem; c) presenting the recommended set to a user via a user interface device; d) receiving a color editing instruction from the user interface device in response to the user selecting a corresponding color editing option from the recommended set; and e) adjusting the original color characteristics to form an adjusted electronic image having adjusted color characteristics based at least in part on the color editing instruction. An apparatus for editing color characteristics of an electronic image is also provided.

A system and method are provided for automatically generating an inspiration board. The system and method involves inputting at least one term into a computer system. Based on the inputted term, at least one image is selected from a database of images stored in the computer system and at least one pattern from a database of patterns stored in the computer system. The inspiration board is assembled by the computer system using the image and the pattern.

A system and method for dynamically reducing the number of choices by reordering the selectable menu options in each menu of a color adjustment tool based on image content, selections in other menus, and usage history. Color names and color modifiers are reduced and/or reordered through image analysis, with most frequently occurring colors being placed at the top of the menu and excluding less frequently used or unused colors from the menu. Adjustment adjectives are reduced by eliminating nonsensical or rare color adjustment combinations (e.g. make the grays much more colorful, make the blues yellower), and/or reordered based on usage history, either by the individual user or by aggregating over many users.

Modifying color adjustment choices based on image characteristics in an image editing system

A method is disclosed for improving printer characterization tables to best reproduce desired colors on a destination device given the ambient illumination at that device's location. The user determines viewing illumination using a target preferably provided with the printer or alternatively printed directly from the characterized printer. The target comprises metameric color pairs allows which users to quickly determine their approximate viewing illumination by selecting the matching pair. A metameric match of color pairs (metamers) is defined to have equal colorimetric values, XYZ or LAB, for one illumination and differing reflectance spectra. Each color pair corresponds to a different illumination condition. All pairs of metamers which comprise the target are examined to determine which pair is the best match. Targets could be bipartite patches, half-and-half images, readability tasks, or images. The appropriate color-correction transform for the selected illumination is applied. Alternatively the color-correction transform for the selected illumination is modified directly.

Method for improved printer characterization

Methods and a system for a natural language control interface are provided to enable a user to modify colors in a digital image. A textual interface is provided to select a color to be modified within the image and a direction of change for the modification. A swipe interface is provided to select a magnitude and polarity for the modification. Actions on the textual and swipe interface are converted to natural language commands which are in turn used to derive a color transformation that is applied to relevant portions of the image to yield a modified image. The modifications are displayed in real time for a user to observe as they are inputted.

Language-based color editing for mobile devices

A print mediator includes an interface module which serves as an interface for a document to be submitted for printing. The interface module communicates with an associated printing infrastructure for acquiring color rendering information for a print queue of the printing infrastructure. A reviewing application receives the acquired color rendering information and generates a visual representation of a document to be submitted for printing based thereon. Problems relating to color rendering by the printing infrastructure are detected and proposals for correction are presented to the submitter by the reviewing application. The user can review the proposals and accept or reject them as well as making annotations on the document. An analogous reviewing application is accessed by the print shop operator to review the document and submitter's annotations.

Print mediator

A system is employed to reveal a watermark in a document. A watermark generator is utilized to select the placement and at least one colorant combination of an image and at least one colorant combination for a watermark on a document, where the at least one colorant combination of the image and the watermark form a metameric pair. A printing system receives data from the watermark generator and places the image and the watermark on the document. A decoder comprising a narrow band illumination element is selected or tuned to a wavelength corresponding to the colorant combinations utilized by the printing system to reveal the watermark placed thereon.

Provided is a method for the automated selection of sample documents or pages from a large collection, and more particularly an application of the method in a proof presentment environment&#x2014;where the method is employed for selection and review of representative or extreme pages from a large document, such as one scheduled for printing. The method characterizes pages or documents in a multi-dimensional vector space based upon a set of characteristics, and then uses clustering techniques to group the pages, enabling the selection of typical pages from the groups, outlier pages from extremes lying outside of the groups, or both typical and outlier pages.

Method for automated document selection

Extended colorant sets are used to hide data or provide a watermark in printed images. Extended set colorants are colorants other than, and in addition to, the standard or common subtractive primary colorants: cyan, magenta, yellow and/or black. Where the extended colorant set supports a plurality of colorant recipes for rendering a given color, watermark data is used to select a colorant recipe from the plurality. As the watermark data to be encoded in the image changes state with image position, alternate colorant recipes or colorant selection functions are selected. The image is rendered based on the alternate colorant recipe selections. Watermark information is encoded in the colorant recipe or colorant selection function selection. Use of the extended colorant sets allows information to be encoded even in portions of an image having colors that do not include a neutral component.

Watermarking

Provided herein are teachings directed to overcoming the problem of erroneous color reproduction on a color output device such as a color display. The teachings herein provide a method for correcting color image data input to a display device by displaying a target of color patches of known input values on the display device, and capturing an image of the target with a digital camera. This is followed by extracting camera signals from the image which corresponds to the color patches, and deriving a tone response calibration for the projector from the camera signals and the input values.
