Various examples are disclosed for hybrid alert and action solution in Internet-of-Things (IoT) networks. A multi-edge alert definition specifies a plurality of IoT devices that communicate through edge devices. The multi-edge alert definition is decomposed decompose into individual edge alert sub-definitions. Each of the individual edge alert sub-definitions is evaluated using data from individual ones of the edge devices. An alert is triggered based on one of the individual edge alert sub-definitions being met.

Hybrid internet of things evaluation framework

Disclosed are various examples of device and management service integration using a device connector service that acts as a proxy. The device connector service can receive a device communication that is relayed by a device connector client executed on an edge device. The device communication includes device connector authentication data, and a device identifier for a device. The device communication is modified into a modified device communication that includes management service authentication data, and a management unique device identifier (UDID) that is different from the device identifier. The device connector service transmits the modified device communication to a management service.

An edge device can connect to a network through an edge device that monitors device data and metrics for the device. The edge device transmits a join message that includes a device identifier of the device. The edge device receives inherited device alert data. A computing environment can generate an alert and an action to perform when criteria associated with the alert is satisfied based at least in part on data collected from at least one of a plurality of sensor devices. The computing environment can determine whether the alert and the action is capable of being evaluated and performed on an edge computing device in communication with the at least one of the plurality of sensor devices based at least in part on a computing capability of the edge computing device or the at least one server computing device. The computing environment can assign the alert criteria and the action to the edge computing device or the at least one server computing device.

Internet of things (IoT) hybrid alert and action evaluation

A computing environment is configured to divide a search query into at least a first sub-query and a second sub-query. A first service and a second service are created to execute the first sub-query and the second sub-query and identify search results from a first one and a second one of the databases, respectively, in parallel. The multi-edge alert definition is registered in a fog evaluation service for evaluation. Data corresponding to the IoT devices is received by the fog evaluation service from the plurality of edge devices. An alert is triggered based on a condition specified in the multi-edge alert definition.
