The present disclosure is directed to a holder for use with a removable substrate cartridge. In one implementation, the holder comprises a main body, an inner sleeve configured to move relative to the main body, and an actuating element configured to slide the inner sleeve to and from a retracted position, in which an outer surface of the inner sleeve is not visible, and a use position, in which the inner sleeve protects an inserted cartridge. In another implementation, the holder comprises a main body, a receiving member located within the main body, and a spring-loaded latch mechanism. The latch mechanism may be configured to actuate the receiving member to and from a loading position, a use position, and an ejecting position.

Aerosol delivery device with improved cartridge loading

The present disclosure is directed to an aerosol delivery device and a consumable unit for use with a holder of an aerosol delivery device. In one example implementation, the consumable unit comprises an ignitable heat source and a substrate material having an aerosol precursor composition configured to form an aerosol upon application of heat thereto. The heat source of the consumable unit is contained within a susceptor pouch, and the susceptor pouch is configured to be heated by an inductive heating assembly to ignite the heat source. In some implementations, the susceptor pouch comprises the consumable unit. In other implementations, the substrate material is contained within a substrate container.

Disclosed is an aerosol delivery device for use with removable and replaceable cartridges. The device includes a holder defining a proximal end and a distal end and a receiving chamber configured to receive the removable cartridge including an ignitable heat source. The holder defines a first aerosol passageway extending therethrough. The device includes a mouthpiece coupled to the holder and defining a second aerosol passageway extending therethrough and a pair of static ignitor contacts disposed proximate the receiving chamber and oriented to contact the ignitable heat source when the removable cartridge is secured within the receiving chamber. The device may include an access door movably coupled to the holder and configured to provide access to the receiving chamber in an open configuration and secure the cartridge for ignition when in a closed configuration.

The aerosol delivery device comprises a control body having a housing, a mouthpiece portion located proximate the housing, a resonant transmitter located in the control body, a control component configured to drive the resonant transmitter, and a substrate tablet receivable in the device. The substrate tablet may comprise a granular substrate material and a susceptor component, the substrate material and the susceptor component may be configured to be formed together, and the susceptor component may be configured to be heated by the resonant transmitter.

The main body may define a receiving portion configured to receive at least a portion of a cartridge, and an aerosol passage extending from the receiving portion, through the main body, and through a first end thereof. In one implementation, the ejection mechanism comprises a pusher pin, a guide ring, a carrier sleeve, and a spring, wherein the cartridge is configured to be received into the carrier sleeve, and wherein the pusher pin is configured to move relative to the guide ring so as to actuate the carrier sleeve alternately between the received position and the ejected position.
