In accordance with the present invention, a parent unit (receiver) of an infant monitor includes an electronics housing, an antenna, a speaker, and a visual light display portion. In one embodiment, the light display portion is mounted on the front surface of the monitor. In another embodiment, the light display portion is mounted in conjunction with the antenna. The light display portion may include elongate light display members associated with individual light sources (LEDs). Also in accordance with the present invention, a parent unit of an infant monitor includes an LED test or LED 'try-me' switch which allows the parent to both test the visual output of the light display portion of the parent unit (prior to purchase) and test the functioning of the light display portion (after purchase and removal from the packaging) without actually receiving actual sound-representative signals from the infant unit (transmitter).

Infant monitor

A baby monitor system with a parent unit communicable with a baby unit a soothing unit is provided. In an embodiment for the baby monitor system of the present invention, the baby unit is responsive to receiving a signal representative of an audible sound transmitted from the parent unit and the parent unit is responsive to receiving a signal representative of an audible sound transmitted from the baby unit. In an embodiment for a method of the present invention, a method for monitoring a baby is provided. The method includes the steps of receiving a signal representative of an audible sound at a baby unit from a parent unit, receiving a signal representative of an audible sound at a parent unit from a baby unit, and actuating a soothing unit included in the baby unit

Baby monitor with a soothing unit

A child monitor system that combines the functionality of a prenatal monitor and a conventional nursery room monitor in a single device. The device comprising a local unit and a remote unit. Each unit having the capability of receiving and outputting acoustic audio signals as well as the capability of transmitting and receiving these signals to and from the units. The device also comprises a selection device for allowing a user to select from a plurality of operating modes.

Two-way communication baby monitor with a soothing unit

A potty training device having a seat with an opening for receiving bodily waste, a sensor for sensing bodily waste, and a sensory output generator. The seat includes a retaining member configured and located so as to retain the seat in place with respect to a toilet such that the opening of the seat is located above a bowl of the toilet. The sensor senses the bodily waste that passes through the opening of the seat, and the sensory output generator generates a sensory output in response to the sensor sensing the bodily waste. A potty training device having a seat with an opening for receiving bodily waste and an electronic unit that includes a housing that at least partially contains a sensor for sensing the bodily waste, a power source, and a sensory output generator for outputting a sensory output when the sensor senses the bodily waste. The electronic unit and/or the seat includes a mechanism located and configured to removably couple the electronic unit and the seat such that the sensor is located so as to sense bodily waste received by the opening of the seat.
