A teleconference system including a plurality of personal presence cells positioned at a local communication site and at a remote communication site. The plurality of personal presence cells are characterized as either sensor cells or display cells. The sensor cells include at least one video camera positioned to sense and transmit an image of the local participant, and an image screen positioned to reflect an image of the local participant toward the at least one video camera and for viewing of an image through the screen. The display cells each include at least one projection display positioned to display a multi-dimensional image of a remote participant on a display screen. A transmission link interfaces the plurality of personal presence cells positioned at the local communication site and the plurality of presence cells positioned at the remote communication site.

Teleconference system with personal presence cells

A portable electronic device with virtual image display including a semiconductor array providing a real image and an optical system mounted to receive the real image and produce a virtual image at a viewing aperture. Electronics are associated with the array to produce real images in accordance with messages received by a data source such as a communication receiver. The display is sufficiently small to mount in a hand held microphone for viewing by the operator while using the microphone.

Electronic device with miniature virtual image display

A portable communications transceiver having a first hollow body, a second hollow body, and a virtual image display that includes a semiconductor array providing a real image and an optical system mounted in the second body to receive the real image and produce a virtual image at a viewing aperture. Electronics are associated with the array to produce real images in accordance with messages and graphical images received by the receiver. The display is sufficiently small enough to mount in a hand held cellular or portable telephone by the operator while using the telephone.

A portable electronic device adapted to be worn on a user's wrist including an electronic unit including a transceiver for receiving and transmitting messages and a watch included within the electronic unit having movements for displaying a time of day. A wrist band including a plurality of electrically conductive fibers is electrically coupled to the electronic unit thereby creating an electronic circuit. A power source is integrated with the plurality of electrically conductive fibers fabricating the wrist band. At least one display is integrated with the electronic unit for the display of informative data.

Receiver with miniature virtual image display

A non-speckle laser projection display composed of a liquid crystal material for the generation of a high resolution, non-speckle image. The projection display screen includes a liquid crystal material which is constructed in a highly scattered state when no drive voltage is applied. When a high frequency, low voltage signal is applied to the liquid crystal projection display screen, the liquid crystal molecules vibrate slightly at a frequency higher than 60 Hz, thereby causing the speckle pattern to change quickly, and causing the eye to smooth out and see no speckle. In addition, provided is a non-speckle laser display system in which included is a laser image source and the liquid crystal projection display screen.

Non-speckle liquid crystal projection display

A holographic textile fiber that selectively absorbs and reflects different wavelengths of light. A plurality of holographic textile fibers in combination forming a holographic textile fabric. The plurality of textile fibers characterized as including a central core including one of a light transmitting material, a light absorbing material, a light reflecting material, or a polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) material. The holographic textile fibers further including a plurality of layers of an optical media. Each of the plurality of layers having differing indices of refraction thereby forming a multi-layer interference coating overcoating the central core. The plurality of layers of optical media characterized as selectively reflecting particular wavelengths of light while transmitting differing wavelengths of light, thereby generating a plurality of interference patterns that form a holographic optical image as a result of an incident light.

Holographic textile fiber

A microscanner composed of a semiconductor wafer, having formed as a part thereof a cantilevered portion and having mounted thereon at least one laser diode. The cantilevered portion has electrically interfaced thereto a plurality of interconnects capable of delivering varying voltages. The cantilevered portion is deflected in response to the varying voltages and therefore produces a scanning action about an 'x' axis, a 'y' axis, or an 'x' and 'y' axis dependent upon the external varying voltage applied thereto and the design of the cantilevered portion. This scanning action operates to scan the light emitted by the at least one laser diode. The microscanner operates to generate a resultant integrated scanned image. This image can be implemented as either a virtual image display or a projected image display.

Microscanner for portable laser diode displays

An integrated electro-optical package including a laser diode microscanner, and an automatic focus mechanism housed within a housing. The microscanner includes a semiconductor wafer, having formed as a part thereof a cantilevered portion having mounted thereon at least one laser diode. The cantilevered portion having electrically interfaced thereto a plurality of interconnects capable of delivering varying voltages. The cantilevered portion is deflected in response to the varying voltages and therefore produces a scanning action in an 'x' and/or 'y' direction dependent upon the external varying voltage applied thereto and the design of the cantilevered portion. The automatic focus mechanism includes a single detector or a detector array that measures a reflected light and submits a signal to the display system optics for focus adjustment dependent upon the measurements received.

Integrated electro-optical package

A textile fabric including a plurality of electrically conductive fibers and at least one electronic sensor or a plurality of sensing fibers. The textile fabric is intended for fabrication into a functional article of clothing or other item made of the woven textile fabric, so as to increase functionality of the article of clothing or item made thereof. The fabric is intended to assist a wearer in the monitoring of biomedical information and/or environmental conditions existent upon the wearer. The plurality of electrically conductive fibers and sensing devices are characterized as creating an interconnect to a portable electronic monitoring device, integrated components such as heating and cooling bands, electronics, or the like, or for serving as an antenna for signals received and transmitted between an integrated electronic component and a remote monitoring device.

A data communication interface is provided between the display carrier and the portable electronic device for permitting data exchange between the display apparatus and the portable electronic device.
