A system comprises a plurality of remote addressable devices being individually programmed with configuration data and emitting an output signal modulated to encode the configuration data such that the output signal includes a visual output signal and/or an audio output signal. The system further comprises a mobile device communicating with the plurality of remote addressable devices. The mobile device receives the output signal and demodulates it to extract the configuration data. The system further comprises a central controller communicating with the plurality of remote addressable devices. The mobile device or the central controller identifies a physical location for each remote addressable device, and further determines that the respective remote addressable device is properly configured and operational for communication with the central controller in response to identifying verification that the respective remote addressable device is installed in the physical location associated with the respective remote addressable device within a structure.

A system includes a plurality of remote addressable devices, each remote addressable device of the plurality of remote addressable devices being individually programmed with configuration data of the respective addressable device. Each remote addressable device includes a radio frequency (RF) transceiver to transmit a RF signal encoded with an address and a physical location of the remote addressable device transmitting the RF signal. The system further includes a plurality of bases. Each base of the plurality of bases includes a RF sensor for receiving the RF signal from the RF transceiver of the corresponding remote addressable device subsequent to the remote addressable device being positioned in the base.

In addition, a key is provided which is indicative of the equipment and operations for the smoke control system. The key is then associated with inputs and outputs of the smoke control system. The key is also associated with the positioning information of the building equipment and the inputs and outputs. Further, the key is associated with control widgets for enabling control of the equipment. The inputs and outputs, positioning information and the control widgets are merged based on the key to provide merged data. A graphical user interface is then generated from the merged data.

Method for linking control system inputs and outputs to symbolic controls

A system and method for non-intrusive fault detection of a ground fault in a communication channel is provided. A bias voltage may be established on a first portion of the communication channel and a second portion of the communication channel. A first voltage may be detected across a first resistor electrically connected to the first and second portions of the communication channel. Data indicative of whether the ground fault exists in the first or second portions of the communication channel may be provided based on the detecting.

System and method for ground fault detection in a transformer isolated communication channel of a network device

A building control system comprises a central control station and at least one control panel connected to the central control station over a network. At least one loop is connected to at least one control panel. The at least one loop comprises a plurality of installed building control devices connected in an electrical circuit. A simulator is also connected to the network and configured to simulate the operation of a plurality of uninstalled building control devices for the building control system. The simulator is further configured to communicate over the network with the plurality of installed building control devices. Simulation of the operation of the uninstalled building control devices occurs simultaneously with the communication between the installed building control devices and the simulator. Accordingly, the simulator may be used to test the entire building control system during the process of installation at a facility.

Method and system for testing a building control system

A system and method for providing communication over a compromised communication channel in a system having a first node and a second node connected via the communication channel is provided. For example, a signaling circuit may be provided. The signaling circuit includes a master signal electrically connected to first and second portions of the communication channel. The first and second portions of the communication channel are employed in the first node. The signaling circuit further includes a slave signal processor arrangement coupled to the master signal processor arrangement and electrically connected to third and fourth portions of the communication channel. The third and fourth portions of the communication channel are employed in the second node.

System and method for fail-safe communication across a compromised communication channel of a network device

An emergency device or emergency system is configured for operation within a fire safety system, or a fire safety portion of a building automation system (BAS). For example, wireless devices, emergency devices and/or automation components within the fire safety system, or the fire safety portion of the BAS may be configured to automatically provide or otherwise communicate emergency information to an emergency device or system. The emergency information may, in turn, be utilized by emergency personnel or first responders to determine conditions with the structure. A heads-up display is configured to present the display data based on the received emergency communication to a user.

An arrangement for use in a safety notification system includes a source of negative voltage, a first resistor arrangement, and a circuit arrangement. The first resistor arrangement is coupled between the source of negative voltage and the signal output of the safety notification system. An arrangement for use in a safety notification system includes an alarm signal power source, a first semiconductor device, a current sensing unit, and a controller unit. The alarm signal power source is configured to generate bias power for activating a notification appliance circuit of a notification system. The first semiconductor device has a load path coupled between the alarm signal power source and the notification appliance circuit. The current sensing unit is operably coupled to generate a sensing signal that is dependent on the current in the load path. The controller circuit is operably connected to receive the current sensing signal and to control the first semiconductor device responsive to a current sensing signal that exceeds an in-rush current threshold.

Methods and apparatus for controlling a notification appliance circuit

An arrangement includes an input, a modulation circuit, an isolation circuit, a demodulator circuit, a detector circuit and at least two outputs. The input is configurable to receive an audio signal and a DC voltage. The modulation circuit is configured to modulate the audio signal and the DC voltage. The isolation circuit has an input electrically isolated from the output, wherein its input coupled to the modulation circuit. The demodulator circuit is operably coupled to the output of the isolation circuit and configured to extract the audio signal therefrom. The detector circuit is operably coupled to the output of the demodulator, and is configured to generate a first signal responsive to detection of a modulated signal corresponding to the DC voltage modulated by the modulation circuit.

A wide area fire safety and detection system is disclosed. The system includes a control node configured to execute a first detection routine, wherein the control node has a network interface, and an amplifier having an audio output, wherein the amplifier is configured to communicate the audio output to a plurality of fire safety nodes. The system further includes a remote node in communication with the control node, wherein the remote node has a network interface configured for communication with at least the network interface of the control node, and an audio converter configured to receive the audio output and generated a converted audio output, wherein the converted out is compatible with a microphone input.

An emergency device or emergency system is configured for operation within a fire safety system, or a fire safety portion of a building automation system (BAS). For example, wireless devices, emergency devices and/or automation components within the fire safety system or the fire safety portion of the BAS may be configured to automatically provide or otherwise communicate emergency information to an emergency device or system. The emergency information may, in turn, be utilized by emergency personnel or first responders to determine location information regarding the structure and/or relative positions within the structure or communicate with a remote emergency system.

An arrangement for use in a safety notification system includes primary and secondary power sources and a voltage converter. The primary power source provides power to a notification appliance circuit of a notification system. The secondary power source includes at least one battery. The voltage converter is coupled between the battery and the notification appliance circuit of the notification system, and is configured to generate a regulated DC voltage from an output voltage generated by the second power source. In general, the secondary power source is employed when the primary power source is not available or otherwise is not functioning. However, the secondary power source may also be employed in other circumstances.

A method includes receiving at a first computer at least one interpreted program over the Internet using a web-browser. The method further includes executing at the first computer at least one interpreted software program to display at least a first graphical element, each graphical element having characteristics dependent upon a status of a corresponding building control system device in a remote location. The method also includes transmitting to the first computer first information regarding a change in status of at least one building control system device, and then transmitting to the first computer second information regarding a subsequent change in status of at least one building control system device.
