System and method related to a control system including an automation controller with a module bay configured to facilitate coupling with scalable modules. The module bay of the automation controller includes a plurality of bay connectors configured to communicatively couple with the scalable module connectors. The module bay may include an open end to facilitate extension beyond an edge of the open end by a module or a closed end.

System and method for coupling an automation controller and scaleable module

A programmable logic controller (PLC) assembly includes a bottom housing with a base, a first plurality of elongate alignment features extending from the bottom housing transverse to the base, and a first connection feature. The PLC assembly includes a central processing unit with a circuit board and at least two receptacles therethrough configured to engage and slide along at least two of the first plurality of alignment features. The at least two of the first plurality of alignment features are positioned asymmetrically with respect to the base. The PLC assembly includes an upper housing with a second connection feature configured to slidably couple with the first connection feature and a second plurality of elongate alignment features configured to slidably engage at least two of the first plurality of alignment features, which are positioned asymmetrically with respect to the base.

Programmable controller component with assembly alignment features

An interlocking system for connecting a programmable logic controller and a power supply of an industrial control and automation system is provided. The interlocking system includes features configured to facilitate coupling with a panel or rail and a plurality of vertical slots and a latch disposed on a side surface of the power supply. The latch includes a first attachment feature disposed along a flexible tongue cantilevered proximate an opening in a housing of the power supply such that the tongue can flex into the opening. The interlocking system also includes a plurality of hooks and a second attachment feature formed on a side surface of the programmable logic controller. The plurality of hooks are configured to slide along and engage with the plurality of vertical slots such that the programmable logic controller and the power supply are held together horizontally and the second attachment feature is configured to couple with the first attachment feature to resist disengagement of the plurality of hooks and the plurality of vertical slots.

Interlocking system for connecting a programmable logic controller and a power supply

An interlocking system for connecting a programmable module and an automation controller of an industrial control and automation system is provided. The interlocking system includes a key comprising a shaft with a head and a first attachment feature. The interlocking system also includes a first keyhole in a programmable module cover. The first keyhole is configured to enable the head to pass upwardly there through. The interlocking system also includes a second keyhole in an automation controller cover. The second keyhole is configured to enable the first attachment feature to slide downwardly there through such that disengagement of the key from the second keyhole is resisted. The interlocking system also includes a second attachment feature on a lower surface of the automation controller cover. The second attachment feature is configured to engage with the first attachment feature when the first attachment feature is rotated about an axis of the shaft.
