An unmanned vehicle for displacing manure in a stable or field which comprises a steering unit for steering the vehicle and a frame. Two wheels and a manure displacing blade which depend from the frame provide the entire support for the vehicle, the vehicle's center of gravity being in an axis which falls between the wheels and the blade. A freely turnable circular bumper is also carried by the frame and prevents the vehicle from colliding with obstacles in the area wherein it operates. The vehicle also includes orientation and steering components as well as sensors for controlling the course of travel of the vehicle within the area and, such as the circular bumper, to prevent it from colliding with obstacles in the area.

Unmanned vehicle for displacing manure

The invention relates to a method of acoustically monitoring the course of a process, in which method the amplitude difference and/or the intensity value of sound are/is measured during the process, and the amplitudes and/or the intensity values of the sound and/or the vibrations are measured continuously or with an adjustable frequency by means of a sound and/or vibration sensor (), such as a piezoelectric transducer (), during the entire process or part of the process and are compared mutually and/or with a predetermined threshold value and/or reference value and/or reference pattern for the purpose of drawing, on the basis thereof, conclusions in relation to the progress and/or the course of the process and/or the presence of disturbances and/or deviations in the course of the process.

Method of and a device for acoustically monitoring the course of a process, such as a milking process

A feed metering apparatus for supplying a consumable substance to a feeding trough for consumption by an animal, such as a dairy cow, while at least one further animal that has voluntary access to the same trough to consume a consumable substance therefrom is waiting for the animal at the feeding trough to depart. The feeding trough has an entrance opening which can be closed by a closing member. The apparatus intermittently supplies a quantity of a consumable substance to the feeding trough. The feeding trough has a weighing mechanism for continuously weighing the amount of the consumable substance in the feeding trough. A control mechanism is provided for closing the feeding trough's opening and there is a timing component. The control mechanism closes the opening of the feeding trough based on the combination of a lower threshold value of the amount of consumable substance remaining in the feeding trough as determined by the weighing mechanism and an upper threshold value of the duration of time since an animal at the feeding trough either stopped consuming a consumable substance therefrom or slowed its pace of doing so to a predetermined amount.

Feed metering device

An apparatus for automatically supplying predetermined amounts of feed to animals over a predetermined period which may be a period of time such as 24 hours or based on other occurrences such as the number of animals that are being fed. Each animal feeds at a trough in a feeding area wherein the animal is identified and which may be provided in a preferably circular feeding column or available to an animal in a milking compartment. A plurality of feed types are provided for each animal wherein the amounts and types are computer controlled and take into consideration a number of factors such as the nutrition needs of the particular animal, its preferences in feed types, whether the animal involved is in a lactation period, the milk yield of the animal, the season of the year, the weather, and the physical profile of the animal being fed. Data is retained in the memory of the computer as to when each animal eats, what it eats, how much if any feed is left in the feeding trough and whether or not an animal has consumed the predetermined types of food that it should consume during the predetermined period. If not, the difference is calculated and an amount of feed is provided in portions for each relevant animal which amount is smaller or equal to the difference as a feed balance to the animal.

An apparatus for detecting physical abnormalities in milk which comprises a light source for irradiating milk with light of red or green or blue colors or any combination of such colors. The intensity of light reflected or diffused or transmitted, or any combination thereof, by the milk, or from background light of the milk, is measured by light sensors. A computer processes the measurement data and is programmed to select, based on comparisons of the values derived from the measured light intensities with reference values, a diagnostic basis or diagnostic bases for abnormalities in the milk from a plurality of diagnostic bases of possible abnormalities stored in the memory of the computer.

Implement for detecting physical abnormalities in milk

An unmanned vehicle for use in a stable such as a cowshed or for use in a meadow or for use in both which is provided with detection components for determining the health and behavior of the animals in the stable or meadow. The detection components comprise an animal identification system including a radar and an infrared camera. The animals are fitted with identifying reflectors. The vehicle also has a herd control element for herding animals and for segregating one or more of the animals from other animals in the herd. Also the vehicle includes an extendible disinfecting member for disinfecting at least portions of the stable as well as parts of animals in the stable or meadow. An alarm is provided on the vehicle for alerting an operator that an animal is ill or acting abnormally. The vehicle also carries a mechanism to analyze manure on the stable floor.

Unmanned vehicle to be used in a stable or a meadow

An apparatus for automatically milking animals, such as cows, comprising automatic milking machine and a milking robot for automatically connecting teat cups to the teats of an animal to be milked. The apparatus is further provided an enclosure having a control room which is accessible to and contains at least part of the milking machine and milking robot. The apparatus further comprises a device for cleaning or disinfecting, or both, an operator who enters the control room. This is accomplished automatically by providing adjacent to, or as part of, the door that enters the control room, a cleaning and disinfecting device which at least contacts the footwear of an operator entering the control room. The door may be turnable about a centrally disposed vertical axis which rotates to provide an entrance and exit from the control room, the bottom of the rotatable door comprising a basin which contains cleaning or disinfectant fluid or both. The enclosure may have one or two milking compartments either side by side or aligned longitudinally, a control room with access to the milking robot or robots and milking machine or machines and a cleaning and disinfecting device adjacent to, or as part of, the entry door and, as a whole, the enclosure may be movable.

Implement for automatically milking animals, such as cows

An apparatus and method for automatically milking animals which include a milking compartment or compartments which have a milking unit comprising an automatic milking machine secured to a robot arm which extends from under the teats of the animal being milked to outside of the milking compartment. The robot arm outside the milking compartment is supported by a sidewardly pivotal portion which includes a piston and cylinder member for raising and lowering the milking unit and a further piston and cylinder movement for pivoting sidewardly a carrier included in the portion. A rail is disposed over the milking compartment either centrally or to one side, or if there is more than one milking compartment which are disposed side-by-side, then the rail extends longitudinally between the milking compartments. The carrier together with the piston and cylinder member and the piston and cylinder unit and the milking unit are movable via a motor and roller longitudinally along the rail, by the piston and cylinder member vertically, and by a piston and cylinder unit sidewardly so that the milking machine can be selectively disposed under the animal's teats for automatic connection of teat cups thereto or can be moved to the side so that the milking machine does not impede the animal from entering and exiting the milking compartment.

Apparatus and method for automatically milking animals

A milking system for dairy animals comprising individual teat cups attachable to the respective teats of the animal's udder, a measuring device to determine the volume of milk discharged from individual teats, a central vacuum system to aid the discharge of the milk from the teats as well as to propel both the milk and the cleaning fluid through the system's fluid lines, a cooling tank, and an array of sensors to determine various parameters of the milk and milking system, including temperature sensors, milk conductivity sensors, air-to-milk ratio sensors, pressure sensors and fluid level sensors. The sensors are arranged at various points in the milking system, including in the individual teat cups, the milk measuring device and the discharge lines, and are optionally coupled to a central computer which controls both the individual components of the milking system and working parameters of the system as a whole, including an automatic cleaning system for cleaning the teat cups, fluid lines and cooling tank. The system diverts milk from the milk otherwise collected that has too high of a temperature or more than a predetermined conductivity indicating it may not have been produced in a healthy teat or udder.
