A chain includes a plurality of interconnected chain links, wherein at least one of the chain links comprises a Turk's head braided core having at least two consecutive turns of at least one primary strand. The at least one primary strand includes polymeric elongated elements having a tenacity of at least 1.0 N/tex.

Chain with endless braided chain-link

A chain is provided which includes a plurality of interconnected chain-links. At least one chain-link of the chain has a braided core which includes a first primary strand having polymeric elongated elements having a tenacity of at least 1.0 N/tex. The braided core is braided from at least 2 consecutive turns of the primary strand. Also disclosed is a braided endless shaped element suitable as chain-link for the chain as well as a chain which has a tenacity (Ten) in N/Tex and a combined titer of the 2 legs of the chain-link having polymeric elongated elements (T) in MTex satisfying the relationship of Ten&#x2265;0.50*T&#x2212;0.05.

A rope system () comprising a splice structure () with an intact portion () comprising at least 8 intact strands (), and a disassembled portion () comprising at least 4 loose strands (), wherein the intact portion () is a braid of at least 4 S oriented () and at least 4 Z oriented intact strands (), wherein at least one loose strand () of the disassembled portion () passes under and over intact strands () of the intact portion (), and at least one loose strand () passes under at least one X-tuck () of intact strands (). By this means the splice length can be minimized resp. slippage of the splice at high loads can be avoided.

Low slip splice

Bone fixing devices include (I) a surgical cable having a first end and a second end and (II) at least a first fixing plate and a second fixing plate. The first and second fixing plates are respectively provided with first and second central holes and first and second rings surrounding the first and second holes. The circumference of each fixing plate defines an outer edge of its respective ring and an inner edge of the ring being adjacent to the hole it surrounds. The first fixing plate is in a stacked position on top of the second plate so as to define a gap therebetween with the plates and the holes at least partly overlapping each other. The cable ends follow a continuous trajectory running around and between the plates and through the holes in such way that by drawing the cable ends the cable is tensioned around the bone parts so as to and fixate the same.

Method to make a splice in a laid rope construction containing at least two strands includes splitting one end of the laid rope into a first part having a first number of strands and a second part having a second number of strands, then tucking the first part of the first rope from a first direction into an opening in the laid rope, and thereafter tucking the second part into the opening from an opposite direction. The first and second parts are tucked at least 3 times into additional openings being separated from one another such that the first part and the second part cross over at least once all the strands of the laid rope and leave the second rope at the last opening.
