A composition comprises, based on the total weight of the composition, 25 wt % to 50 wt % of a polyetherimide; and 50 wt % to 75 wt % of a polyphthalamide; wherein the composition has a number of drops to tracking at 250 volts of greater than or equal to 50 drops determined according to ASTM D-3638-85.

Electrical tracking resistance compositions, articles formed therefrom, and methods of manufacture thereof

A foamed thermoplastic material includes a thermoplastic material exhibiting, in its unfoamed state, a particular flammability index, flame growth rate, and specific extinction area. The foamed thermoplastic material further includes a plurality of cells having a number average mean diameter of 5 to 150 micrometers present in an amount effective to provide the foamed thermoplastic material with a density that is 10 to 90 percent of the density of the unfoamed thermoplastic material. The foamed thermoplastic material exhibits a desirable tensile elongation and dielectric constant. A process for forming the foamed thermoplastic material, articles including the foamed thermoplastic material, and an article-forming process are also described.

A composition comprises, based on the total weight of the composition, 50 wt % to 90 wt % of a polyetherimide; and 10 wt % to 50 wt % of a filler comprising talc, titanium dioxide, zirconium oxide, neutral aluminum oxide, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing; wherein the composition has a number of drops to tracking at 250 volts of greater than or equal to 50 drops determined according to ASTM D-3638-85.

A poly(siloxane-etherimide) composition comprising, based on the total weight of the composition, 70 to 90 wt % of a poly(siloxane-etherimide); and an additive comprising a polyester, a filler, or a combination thereof; wherein the filler comprises talc, calcium carbonate, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing; and wherein the composition has a number of drops to tracking at 250 volts of greater than or equal to 50 drops determined according to ASTM D-3638-85.

Disclosed herein are methods and fiber reinforced thermoplastic composition comprising: a polyaryletherketone (PAEK) component; a polyimide component, wherein the polyimide component comprises a blend of at least a first polyimide (PI) having glass transition temperature of at least 300&#xb0; C. and a second polyimide (PI) having glass transition temperature less than the glass transition temperature of the first polyimide; and a reinforcement fiber component. The resulting fiber reinforced thermoplastic compositions exhibit improved mechanical performance.

Fiber reinforced polyaryletherketone resin compositions

A thermoplastic composition comprises, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composition, 10 to 45 wt. % of a poly(etherimide); 35 to 90 wt. % of a polycarbonate component comprising a polycarbonate homopolymer, a poly(carbonate-siloxane), or a combination thereof; 0.5 to 20 wt. % of a compatibilizer polycarbonate component comprising a poly(carbonate-arylate ester), a phthalimidine copolycarbonate, or a combination thereof; up to 5 wt. % of an ultraviolet light stabilizer; and 0 to 20 wt. % of TiO, wherein a sample of the composition has a 50% higher notched Izod impact energy value compared to the composition without the compatibilizer component.

Compatibilized compositions, articles formed therefrom, and methods of manufacture thereof

A thermoplastic composition comprises, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composition, 10 to 45 wt. % of a poly(etherimide); 35 to 90 wt. % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane); 0.5 to 20 wt. % of compatibilizer polycarbonate component comprising a poly(carbonate-arylate ester); up to 15 wt. % of an ultraviolet light stabilizer; and 0 to 30 wt. % of TiO2; wherein a sample of the composition has a notched Izod impact energy of at least 200 J/m at 23&#xb0; C. measured in accordance to ASTM D256; and an at least 50% higher notched Izod impact energy value compared to the composition without the compatibilizer component measured in accordance to ASTM D256.

Disclosed herein is a composition comprising a compatible blend of i) 60 to 85 weight percent of a linear poly(arylene sulfide), ii) 15 to 40 weight percent of a polyetherimide sulfone; and iii) 1 to 3 weight percent of a novolac resin having an average of 2 or more epoxy groups per molecule. Weight percent is based on the total weight of the composition. An article made from the composition has a tensile strength greater than or equal to 70 megaPascals (MPa), as determined by ASTM D638, an impact strength of greater than or equal to 3 kiloJoules per square meter (kJ/m), as determined by ASTM D256, and an elongation at break greater than or equal to 3 % as determined by ASTM D638. Methods of making the composition are also disclosed.

Blends of polyetherimide sulfone and poly(arylene sulfide)

A composition including a blend of: a) a polyethersulfone; b) a polyphenylene sulfide (PPS); and c) an epoxy, and optionally a polyetherimide, wherein the polyetherimide and epoxy are present in an amount effective to act as a compatibilizer for the polyethersulfone and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). Methods of compatibilizing a blend of polyethersulfone and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). The method can include melt mixing a polyethersulfone, and polyetherimide, a polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and an epoxy under conditions of elevated temperature and simultaneous mixing.

Blends of polyethersulfones and polyphenylene sulfide resins

A thermoplastic composition comprises a polymer blend. The polymer blend comprises a first polyimide and a second polyimide. The first polyimide has repeating units derived from a first dianhydride and a first diamine. The second polyimide has repeating units derived from a second dianhydride and a second diamine. Either the first dianhydride and the second dianhydride are the same or the first diamine and the second diamine are the same.

Thermoplastic compositions having miscible and compatible immiscible polymer blends are disclosed. The miscible polymer blends have a single glass transition temperature. The compatible polymer blends have two glass transition temperatures.

Polymer blend compositions

Phase separated blends of polyaryl ether ketones, polyaryl ketones, polyether ketones, polyether ether ketones and mixtures thereof with at least one polysulfone etherimide, wherein the polysulfone etherimide has greater than or equal to 50 mole % of the polymer linkages contain at least one aryl sulfone group are described. Such blends have improved load bearing capability at high temperature. In another aspect a high crystallization temperature, especially at fast cooling rates, is achieved.
