A humoral testing apparatus in which a measuring light is irradiated to a reagent area forming a color as a result of a reaction and an optical density of the reagent area is detected by a detecting operation of light intensity of the reflected light. The humoral testing apparatus enables a humoral test to be performed accurately in cases where nonuniformity occurs with the reaction of a reagent with a humoral sample within the reagent area, or in cases where fine dust is present within each detecting spot in the reagent areas. The light reflected from the reagent areas is detected with a two-dimensional photodetector. The independent light intensity detecting operations are performed with respect to the subareas of the reagent area of a reagent layer. A photo detection signal S, which represents the intensity of the reflected light is statistically processed with a signal processing section 51.

Humoral testing apparatus

An optical measuring apparatus comprises: an illuminating section that illuminates a first object with a first light; a light changing section that changes an intensity of the first light illuminating the first object; a light receiving device that receives a second light transmitted through or reflected from the first object; and an output section that outputs a measurement result according to i) a state of the light changing section and ii) an amount of the second light received by the light receiving device. Optical measuring apparatus and optical measuring method

A blood testing unit is provided with a closed vessel having an outer vessel body and an inner vessel body, and a reagent layer is accommodated in the closed vessel. Reagents which react with a blood sample are supported on the reagent layer. The closed vessel is comprised such that at least either one of the outer vessel body and the inner vessel body is provided with an aperture, through which air is capable of being introduced from the exterior to the interior of the one vessel body, and the one vessel body is provided with a sealing member for closing the aperture.

A blood testing unit comprises a closed vessel having a blood introducing section formed at a certain area of the closed vessel. A blood constituent separating section is located within the closed vessel to separate plasma and/or serum from the blood sample introduced through the blood introducing section into the closed vessel. A reagent layer is located within the closed vessel, such that the reagent layer can be seen from the exterior. The reagent layer comprises a region for spreading the plasma and/or the serum, which has been separated by the blood constituent separating section from the blood sample, and a reagent supporte donor in the spreading region, the reagent undergoing a reaction with the plasma and/or the serum and forming a color as a result of the reaction.

A plurality of different kinds of reagents are supported at different positions on a reagent layer. A humoral testing apparatus irradiates measuring light which has a wavelength adapted to one of the plurality of the reagent areas which forms a color, and detects the intensity of the light reflected from the reagent areas with the photodetector with respect to each of the reagents, and thus detects the optical densities of the reagent areas.

A dry analytical element for quantitatively analyzing creatine kinase is composed of a support and a creatine kinase-detecting agent layer. The creatine kinase-detecting agent layer contains creatine phosphate and adenosine diphosphate which react with each other to give adenosine triphosphate in the presence of creatine kinase, a buffer compound having a sulfonic acid group which keeps the layer in the range of pH 5.5 to pH 8.5 for the formation of adenosine triphosphate, and an indicator composition which reacts with the formed adenosine triphosphate to give a spectroscopically detectable compound. The concentration of an analyte in a sample liquid is determined on the basis of the optical density of a chemical analysis element spotted with the sample liquid according to a standard curve representing the relation between the concentration and the optical density of the analysis element which is obtained when the concentration is measured using an analysis element of a first lot. A plurality of first standard liquids containing the analyte in known levels are spotted onto analysis elements of a second lot, the concentrations of the analyte in the first standard liquids are determined according to the standard curve and a first calibration curve for correcting the concentrations of the analyte is prepared. A plurality of second standard liquids containing the analyte in known levels are spotted onto analysis elements of the second lot, the concentrations of the analyte in the second standard liquids are determined according to the standard curve on the particular analysis system, the concentrations of the analyte in the second standard liquids thus determined are corrected according to the first calibration curve, and a second calibration curve for correcting the concentrations of the specific analyte in the second standard liquids thus corrected is prepared.

In a chemical analysis element cartridge, chemical analysis element pressing mechanism is inserted into a cartridge body to press a stack of chemical analysis elements in the cartridge body toward an element take-out port formed in one end of the cartridge body. The element pressing mechanism includes a stopper to be engaged with an engagement teeth formed on an inner wall surface of the cartridge body and a pressing member which presses the stack of the chemical analysis elements toward the element take-out port under the force of a coiled spring. The stopper has a slider member which is slidable relative to a shaft portion of the pressing member and the coiled spring is disposed around the slider member with its one end in abutment against the pressing member and its the other end retained by a spring retainer portion formed on one end of the slider member. A bulged portion on the outer surface of the slider member aligns an effective center of an envelope defined by the end of the coiled spring with the effective center of the spring retainer portion.

Element pressing mechanism for dry chemical analysis element cartridge

A chemical analysis slide cartridge includes a box-like cartridge body in which a plurality of chemical analysis slides are stacked. A slide take-out port is formed in one end of the cartridge body and the chemical analysis slides in the cartridge body are taken out one by one through the take-out port. A pressing member is slidably received in the cartridge body and is adapted to be brought into contact with the stack of the slides on the side remote from the take-out port to push the stack of the slides toward the take-out port. Ratchet teeth are formed on the inner wall of the cartridge body and a claw adapted to be engaged with the ratchet teeth is formed on the pressing member. The ratchet teeth are not formed in a predetermined area near the end of the cartridge body remote from the take-out port so that the claw cannot be engaged with the ratchet teeth when the pressing member is near the end of the cartridge body remote from the take-out port.

Chemical analysis element cartridge

A chemical analysis film cartridge has a box-like cartridge body in which a plurality of chemical analysis films are stacked. The chemical analysis films are taken out one by one through a take-out port formed in one end of the cartridge body. The take-out port has a first opening portion which is opened through a first side wall of the cartridge body and through which one chemical analysis film can be passed and a second opening portion which opened through one end face of the cartridge body. A first engagement portion is formed on the outer surface of the first side wall near the first opening portion and a second engagement portion is formed on the outer surface of a second side wall opposed to the first side wall. A capping member having third and fourth engagement portions is removably mounted on the cartridge body to cover the first and second opening portions of the take-out port with the third and fourth engagement portions respectively engaged with the first and second engagement portions. The capping member is provided with a protruding portion which projects into the cartridge body and pushes inside the chemical analysis films away from the first opening portion.

A chemical analysis element cartridge includes a box-like cartridge body in which a plurality of chemical analysis elements are stacked and are taken out through an element take-out port formed at one end of the cartridge body. A pressing member is slidably received in the cartridge body and is brought into contact with the stack of the elements on the side remote from the element take-out port to push the stack of the elements toward the element take-out port. The cartridge body is provided at least in one side wall thereof with a slit which extends in the direction of stack of the elements and the pressing member is provided with an external force receiving portion which is laterally interlocked with an urging member disposed outside the cartridge body through the slit and receives a force for urging the pressing member toward the element take-out port from the urging member. The pressing member is interlocked with an engagement member so that the pressing member and the engagement member are moved toward the element take-out port together with each other when the force from the urging member is acting on the pressing member and the engagement member permits the pressing member to be displaced away from the element take-out port relative to the engagement member when the force from the urging member is released.

An integral multilayer analytical element in which a first fibrous porous layer, a nonfibrous porous layer, and a second fibrous porous layer superposed in this order on a water-impermeable light-transmissive support the first fibrous porous-layer having a larger pore size than the nonfibrous porous layer. The above three porous layers are integrally laminated to each other substantially closely by an adhesive discontinuously disposed so as to form microspaces continuing through from one layer to the next so as not to interfere with the approximately uniform permeation of liquid. A reagent composition which produces an optically detectable change in the presence of an analyte is incorporated in at least one of said three porous layers. When a nonporous reagent layer is incorporated on the support in the above analytical element, the reagent composition is incorporated in the nonporous reagent layer. By using the analytical element of the invention, the analytical values of various analytes of blood samples can be obtained independently of hematocrit values from whole blood samples and blood plasma samples in the range of the hematocrit values of 0% to 55%.

In a dry type analytical element having at least one water-permeable layer including a porous spreading layer and at least one water-permeable layer, containing an enzyme having cholesterol esterase activity, the improvement which comprises containing a condensate of poly(ethylene oxide) monoalkylphenyl ether and formaldehyde at least in the water-permeable layer containing the enzyme or another water-permeable layer. In the analytical element of the invention, hemolysis does not occur and bound cholesterol is sufficiently decomposed to free cholesterol.
