There are provided a new compound which has the following general formula (1) and which is useful as a coloring material, an ink containing the compound, an ink cartridge containing the ink and an ink jet recording method including ejecting the ink from a recording head of an ink jet system to record an image on a recording medium.

An object of the present invention is to provide a magenta toner having high dispersibility of a colorant and good spectral characteristics. A magenta toner includes a magenta toner particle including at least a binder resin, a compound represented by the formula (1), and a colorant, wherein the colorant includes a pigment having a quinacridone skeleton: (wherein Rand Reach independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group.)

A pigment dispersion containing at least a compound represented by General formula (1) and a yellow pigment represented by General formula (2) in a dispersion medium and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. Furthermore, a color filter yellow resist composition and an ink composition are provided, wherein images can be displayed with high spectral characteristics and high display contrast because the brightness is high and the hue of yellow is excellent.

To provide a yellow toner having a colorant in a good dispersed state, obtained through excellent granulation performance and having stable developing performance, the yellow toner contains a binder resin, a wax and a colorant, and is characterized by containing as the colorant a compound represented by the following general formula (1) and a compound represented by the following general formula (2).
