A sodium borate, aluminum powder and fluoride powder are mixed together in a hermetic vessel filled with hydrogen gas, and the mixture is reacted at not less than 410° C. and not more than 560° C. to produce sodium borohydride.

The present invention provides a piston housing body capable of achieving downsizing and weight reduction. In a piston housing body having a main body portion provided with at least a pair of piston housing portions for housing at least a pair of opposing pistons, an operating fluid circulation flow path connecting the piston housing portions, and a connection portion for connecting an operating fluid supply flow path to the operating fluid circulation flow path, the operating fluid circulation flow path is constituted by a pipe, both end portions of the pipe are cast in the main body portion, and an intermediate portion of the pipe and the connection portion are exposed outside the main body portion.

Provided is a method of recovering rare-earth elements by performing slight pH adjustment of a leachate, which does not require such significant pH adjustment as in conventional methods, reduces cost and effort, and can efficiently recover rare-earth elements in a bauxite residue in a good yield. The method of recovering rare-earth elements is a method of recovering rare-earth elements, the method including: a leaching step of bringing a raw material bauxite residue, which is produced as a by-product in a Bayer process, into contact with a liquid leaching agent to recover a leachate containing rare-earth elements; an extraction step of bringing the leachate into contact with an extraction treatment liquid containing a phosphoric acid ester-based extractant to recover an extract liquid containing the rare-earth elements; and a back extraction step of bringing the extract liquid into contact with a back extraction treatment liquid to recover the rare-earth elements, the leaching step including recovering a leachate having a pH of 0.5 or more and 1.2 or less by using an acidic liquid leaching agent, the extraction step including adjusting the pH of the leachate to 1.0 or more and 1.7 or less and then bringing the leachate into contact with the extraction treatment liquid.

Method of recovering rare-earth elements

A gas pressure controlled casting mold is disclosed having a hot-top introducing a molten metal of aluminum or aluminum alloy, and a mold body which passes the molten metal of aluminum or aluminum alloy introduced from the hot-top through a molten metal passage portion for cooling and solidification and semi-continuously or continuously casting a billet of aluminum or aluminum alloy. A wall surface of the molten metal passage portion of the mold body is provided with a plurality of lubricating oil blow-out holes for blowing out a lubricating oil. A lubricating oil supply passage is communicatively connected to each lubricating oil blow-out hole and is independently formed at least in a range of a heat affected portion in the mold body. This allows the mold body to be reliably cooled regardless of the difference in the temperature and casting speed conditions and thus can achieve favorable continuous casting.

Gas pressure controlled casting mold

Provided is a method of producing an Al&#x2014;Sc based alloy suitable for production of an Al&#x2014;Sc based alloy that: eliminates the needs for equipment for heating in an inert gas atmosphere or a vacuum atmosphere, a reducing agent such as metal Ca, and equipment and power for molten salt electrolysis; can be performed adequately by heating up to 1,050&#xb0; C.; and enables continuous operation. The method of producing an Al&#x2014;Sc based alloy includes: loading into a reaction vessel metal aluminum (Al), a metal fluoride salt, and a scandium compound; elevating a temperature of a reaction system to from 700 to 1,050&#xb0; C. to form a molten metal layer including molten metal aluminum serving as a lower layer and a molten salt layer in which the metal fluoride salt and the scandium compound are melted serving as an upper layer; and transferring a scandium ion (Sc) generated in the molten salt layer side to the molten metal layer side. The metal fluoride salt has a melting temperature lower than the reaction temperature and has a density in a range of from 70 to 95% of the density of the molten metal aluminum, at the reaction temperature.

Al&#x2014;Sc alloy manufacturing method

Provided is a method of recovering rare-earth elements by which rare-earth elements can be recovered efficiently from a bauxite residue serving as a raw material and containing the rare-earth elements. Specifically provided is a method of recovering rare-earth elements from a raw material, the raw material being a bauxite residue produced as a by-product in a Bayer process, the method including: using a bauxite residue having a specific surface area of 35 m/g or more; adding, to the raw material bauxite residue, a liquid leaching agent formed of an aqueous solution of at least one kind of mineral acid selected from sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulfurous acid, thereby preparing a slurry having a liquid-solid ratio of 2 to 30 and a pH of 0.5 to 2.2; subjecting the slurry to leaching treatment of the rare-earth elements under a temperature condition of room temperature to 160&#xb0; C.; subjecting the slurry after the leaching treatment to solid-liquid separation, yielding a leachate; and separating and recovering the rare-earth elements from the leachate.

An aluminum alloy billet obtained by continuously casting molten aluminum alloy in the shape of rod is cut into a predetermined length by means of a cutting device. The aluminum alloy billet thus cut is loaded into a product carrier container with an identification mark that has been made. The casting condition and inspection results of the aluminum alloy billet are stored in the storage unit of a production control device in association with the identification mark so as to stabilize the quality and production of the aluminum alloy billet used for machining materials.

A hot-top is disclosed that continuously casts an ingot by pouring molten metal down into a cylindrical space in a continuous casting mold from a molten metal flow-down port. The inner shape of a flow-down port forming part corresponds to the inner shape of a cylindrical space forming part. The hot-top forms an annular groove about the molten metal flow-down port, and has a barrier between the annular groove and the flow-down port.

Provided is a method of recovering rare-earth elements, including causing rare-earth elements particularly including Nd and Dy to leach efficiently from a raw material for leaching which contains the rare-earth elements, and separating and recovering the rare-earth elements. The method of recovering rare-earth elements includes: a leaching step including performing leaching treatment of rare-earth elements in which an acidic slurry of a raw material for leaching which contains the rare-earth elements is held under a predetermined condition, and then subjecting the slurry obtained after the leaching treatment to solid-liquid separation, yielding a leachate containing the rare-earth elements; and a separation step of separating and recovering the rare-earth elements from the yielded leachate, in which: the raw material for leaching contains Ca as CaO at a ratio of 4 to 15 mass % and Ti as TiOat a ratio of 2 to 13 mass % in a solid component (S); an acid aqueous solution is an acid aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid and/or nitric acid; and the leaching treatment performed in the leaching step is digestion or maceration which is performed under the heating and pressurizing conditions of a temperature of 160 to 300&#xb0; C. and a pressure of 0.65 to 10 MPa, and the rare-earth elements are caused to leach together with Ca in the leaching step.
