A three-dimensional display device includes a display, a barrier, and a controller. The display displays a parallax image including a right-eye viewing image and a left-eye viewing image. The barrier defines a traveling direction of image light of the parallax image. The controller causes a black image to appear between the right-eye viewing image and the left-eye viewing image based on a parallax value of the parallax image.

Three-dimensional display device, image display system, and movable body

A second controller causes a display panel to sequentially display a plurality of test images, and causes a second camera in an external camera to sequentially capture the plurality of test images to obtain a plurality of second images. The captured second images are transmitted from the external camera to a three-dimensional image display system. The three-dimensional image display system extracts luminance from the received second images and creates luminance plots based on the extracted luminance. A third controller calculates phase values based on the created luminance plots. The third controller stores the calculated phase values with corresponding coordinates on the display panel into a storage as a phase distribution.

A detection device includes an input device and a detector. The input device in the detection device receives input of image information output from a camera. The detector performs a detection process to detect positions of eyes of a user. Each of the surface of the display panel and the surface of the optical member includes a reflection reduction layer to reduce light reflection.

The barrier provides parallax between eyes of a user. The detector detects a position of a face of the user. The method includes displaying an image, detecting a first position, detecting a second position, and calculating an interocular distance. The displaying an image includes displaying an image for interocular distance measurement. The detecting a first position includes detecting a first position of the face of the user in response to an instruction from the user. The detecting a second position includes detecting a second position of the face of the user in response to an instruction from the user. The calculating an interocular distance includes calculating an interocular distance of the user based on the first and the second positions.

A three-dimensional display device includes a display panel that displays a parallax image, an optical panel including a plurality of less-transmissive portions and a plurality of transmissive portions repeatedly arranged alternately in a parallax direction, and a controller that controls the display panel. Each of the plurality of transmissive portions has a first width in the parallax direction greater than a second width of each of the plurality of less-transmissive portions in the parallax direction. The controller causes the display panel to display a black image in a binocular viewable area on the display panel viewable to two eyes of a user to allow parallax separation of the parallax image.
