Provided is a surveying instrument including a distance measuring module configured to measure a distance to an object, an optical axis deflector configured to deflect the distance measuring light, a measuring direction image pickup module configured to acquire an observation image, an arithmetic control module, and an operation panel includes a display module, the arithmetic control module is configured to cause the optical axis deflector to perform a scan with a predetermined scan pattern and create an overlay image as a superimposition of the locus of the scan pattern on the observation image, and calculate a formula of a straight line or a curve line based on a measurement result of intersections or the closest points to the intersections between the straight line or the curve line drawn along a ridge line or a contour of the object and the locus of the scan pattern on the displayed overlay image.

A tilt detecting unit has a tilt sensor and is rotatably supported by an inner frame through a second shaft orthogonal to a first shaft, a first encoder is provided on the first shaft, a second encoder is provided on the second shaft, motors are provided on the respective shafts, an arithmetic processing module drives the respective motors so that the tilt sensor detects the horizontality based on a signal issued by the tilt sensor, calculates a tilt of the outer frame based on the outputs from the first and second encoders when the tilt sensor detects the horizontality, reverses the tilt detecting unit 180° at least once based on the outputs from the respective encoders in a stationary state of the tilt detecting device, and performs the calibration of the tilt sensor based on the detection signals output from the tilt sensor before and after the reversal.

A surveying device body includes a distance measuring section to measure a distance to the measurement target, an optical axis deflector that deflects distance measuring light with respect to a reference optical axis, a measurement direction imaging section that obtains an observation image, and an attitude detector that detects an incline of the surveying device body. A computation controller displays a portion of the observation image on the display unit, computes a direction angle of the distance measuring optical axis on the basis of a detection result of the attitude detector and a deflection angle of the distance measuring optical axis with respect to the reference optical axis, and measures the measurement target on the basis of the direction angle and a distance measurement result of the distance measuring section using a reference point as a reference.

A surveying instrument comprises a monopod installed at a reference point, a surveying instrument main body provided at the monopod and having an attitude detector, wherein the surveying instrument main body carries out an image pickup and a scanning of an object to be measured at a pre-movement and a post-movement respectively, obtains at least three cross points of a locus of a scan pattern of the pre-movement and the post-movement, and calculates three-dimensional coordinates of an installation point of the post-movement based on three-dimensional coordinates of the cross points measured from the reference point, a measurement result of the cross points measured from the installation point of the post-movement and a detection result of the attitude detector.

A laser measuring instrument comprises a light emitter, a driver, a scanning unit, a light receiving signal processing module for detecting a reciprocating time per pulsed light of a distance measuring light and performing a distance measurement, and a timing generating circuit for issuing a timing signal, wherein the timing generating circuit is configured to issue a timing signal for making the light emitter pulse-emit in a short cycle and a timing signal for pausing a light emission, the driver is configured to make the light emitter pulse-emit according to the timing signals, a light emission time interval in the short cycle is set such that a measuring point is multiply irradiated with the pulsed light by two or more times within a time when the pulsed light passes the measuring point, and the light receiving signal processing module is configured to integrate acquired light receiving signals and to carry out the distance measurement.
