An optical switch easy to adjust optical parts without using a catoptric system and an optical add/drop multiplexer using the optical switch are provided. Between an input light outputting collimator deviceand an output light inputting collimator deviceprovided to face each other at a predetermined spaced interval, a drop light inputting collimator deviceand an add light outputting collimator devicefixed and held on a movable holding memberin common are moved forward and retreated, and thereby a switching is conducted.

As a wavelength selection filter, a filter in which dielectric multilayered films are formed on a substrate, an optical fiber grating in which diffraction grating is formed in an optical fiber, and so on, can be used. As another optical demultiplexer, as described in Japanese Patent No. 2599876, an arrayed optical waveguide diffraction grating which forms plural optical waveguides having different length of optical paths on the substrate to demultiplex the multiple wavelength light to the respective wavelengths can be used.

There are disclosed an optical filtering module and various optical devices using the filtering module. The optical filtering module has an optical filter for transmitting, attenuating or reflecting light having a certain wavelength range, a first optical system having an optical fiber for guiding light to be transferred to the optical filter, a second optical system having an optical fiber for guiding light transferred from the optical filter, the second optical system being opposingly arranged to the first optical system while interposing the optical filter therebetween and an outer cylindrically shaped glass holder for holding therein the optical filter, the first optical system and the second optical system secured thereto.

The shaping mold comprises an elevated region and a circumferential region adjacent to the elevated region, the elevated region having a plurality of convex portions designed for shaping the optical fiber fitting portions and having a side surface forming a boundary with the circumferential region, the boundary being positioned at a level lower than the level of bottoms of grooves formed between one convex portion and another convex portion, said side surface being an additional side surface different from side surfaces of any convex portions designed for shaping optical fiber fitting portions, the optical fiber guide block has a specific form produced by a mold shaping method using the above shaping mold, and the optical fiber array comprises the above optical fiber guide block.
