A droplet applying apparatus includes a base having a mounting surface on which a substrate is to be mounted, an arm part which is fitted to the base so as to be movable relative to the base in an arrow A direction, and a plurality of droplet ejecting sections which are fitted to the arm part so as to be movable in an arrow B direction and which eject droplets to the substrate mounted on the mounting surface. The droplet ejecting sections are fitted on a fitting surface of a first beam member of the arm part as well as on a fitting surface of a second beam member of the arm part.

An electrostatic attraction fluid jet device of the present invention is so arranged that a nozzle () is formed so as to correspond to a meniscus equivalent to a tip portion in the form of a taylor cone formed in a process of an electrostatic attraction of ink () as a conventional fluid. In an ink-jet head device, a main tank, a sub tank and an ink-jet head are mounted in this order in a carriage, with the main tank placed at the top. The main tank, sub tank and ink-jet head are connected to one another by a three-way ink conduit. At a junction of the ink conduit is disposed a three-way switching valve, which selectively switch a path connecting the sub tank to the main tank and a path connecting the sub tank to the ink-jet head, without causing the ink-jet head and the main tank to communicate with each other. As a result, an ink-jet head device and an ink-supplying method are realized, in which the ink-jet head can maintain suitable negative pressure and in which consumption of ink is reduced.

A recording-medium transport device includes a pair of pinch rollers arranged closer to a printing head than to a subordinate roller and pinching and transporting a belt and a sheet of paper toward the printing head. The pair of pinch rollers can pinch the sheet of paper together with the belt, while maintaining the belt flat. As such, an image of high quality can be formed, e.g., printed on the recording medium. Furthermore, the recording medium does not divert from a transporting path. Thus reliable image formation can be achieved.

An image recording apparatus includes a discharge head and a discharge control device. The discharge head includes an ink chamber with a discharge hole, a first heater for heating and gasifying ink, a shutter unit, provided at the discharge hole portion, controlled to discharge gasified ink intermittently according to an electrical signal corresponding to image data to be recorded, and a first member for maintaining the temperature of the discharge hole sufficiently lower than the temperature of the first heater in operation of the first heater before initiation and after completion of image data recording. The invention provides an ink sheet transfer control apparatus which can transfer an ink sheet stably without requiring any complex structure. A CPU drives and controls a grid motor so that recording paper can be transferred at a constant speed with the ink sheet and the recording paper pressed in contact with each other by a thermal head and a platen. Then, the CPU drives an ink motor with an arbitrarily determined voltage Vi, and measures a current Ig then flowing through the grid motor. The CPU determines such an optimum drive voltage Vir of the ink motor that a specified tension is developed to the ink sheet in printing operation, based on the measured current Ig, and drives the ink motor with the optimum drive voltage Vir. Characteristics of print drive system are detected by measuring the current Ig flowing through the grid motor, so that the print drive system can be controlled with simple construction.
