A drive controller according to an aspect controls drive of a three-phase motor, and includes an electric value calculation unit that calculates an electric value in each of coordinate axes of rotating coordinates of the three-phase motor based on an electric value that is at least one of a current value and a voltage value generated in the three-phase motor, and a fault determination unit that determines a fault phase having a fault in phases of the three-phase motor by combining positive-negative information on at least one of a difference between a calculation electric value calculated by the electric value calculation unit and a target electric value indicating a control target of an electric value in each of the coordinate axes, and a variation of the difference, with each of the coordinate axes.

A power converter converts power from a power source into power to be supplied to a motor having n-phase (n is an integer of 3 or larger) windings. The power converter includes an inverter including switches connected to the windings, a controller to control operation of each of the switches, and a failure detector to detect a sign of failure in a drive system ranging from the power source to the motor. When a sign of failure is detected by the failure detector, the controller is configured or programmed to check presence or absence of a failure in the drive system while supplying power to the motor by causing the inverter to perform a failure operation.

The control circuit generates a control signal to turn off all of n low-side switches and n high-side switches, supplies the control signal to the n low-side switches and the n high-side switches and measures the n-phase voltages that change depending on patterns of on failures of the switches, and executes a first failure diagnosis to diagnose the on failures of the n low-side switches and the n high-side switches based on the measured n-phase voltages by referring to a table associating the patterns of the on failures of the switches with n-phase voltage levels.

A power conversion apparatus converts power from a power supply to power to be supplied to a motor including windings for n phases where n is an integer equal to or greater than three. The power conversion apparatus includes a first inverter connected to one end of the winding for each phase of the motor, a second inverter connected to another end of the winding for each phase, and a control circuit to control an operation of each of the first and second inverters. The windings for the n phases include a winding for a first phase and a winding for a second phase, and the control circuit superimposes a correction wave to reduce an induced electric current induced in the winding for the second phase by passing electricity through the winding for the first phase on a fundamental wave to pass electricity through the winding for the second phase.

Power conversion apparatus, motor driving unit, and electric power steering apparatus

A power conversion device includes a first inverter, a second inverter, and a control circuit that performs Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control of switching elements of the first and second inverters according to at least one switching scheme. For an H bridge of each phase, the control circuit performs PWM control according to at least one switching scheme that turns on a high-side switching element in one of a pair of legs and switches a low-side switching element in another of the pair of legs, or turns on a low-side switching element in one of the pair of legs and switches a high-side switching element in another of the pair of legs.

An electric power conversion apparatus includes a first inverter electrically connected to one end of each of phase windings of a motor, and a second inverter electrically connected to the other end of each of the phase windings, and a neutral point potential setting circuit electrically connected to the first inverter to set a potential of a neutral point in the first inverter when the first inverter is determined to be in an abnormal state.
