Methods and systems for transmitting information are provided. A threshold message size is configured to determine when an application executed by a computing system can send a latency message identifying a memory location from where a device can procure a payload for transmission to a destination. The computing system sends a latency message to the device, where the latency message includes the memory location, a transfer size and an indicator indicating if the application wants a completion status after the latency message is processed. The computing system stores connection information at a location dedicated to the application that sends the latency message. The device transmits the payload to the destination; and posts a completion status, where the device posts the completion status at a completion queue associated with the application with information that enables the application to determine whether other latency messages can be posted.

Method and system for transmitting information in a network

Method and system for a device having a processor module for maintaining a connection with another device are provided. The device includes a timer module having a plurality of timers, where the resolution for each timer is maintained by one or more processor modules; and a timer state module that stores an indicator value for indicating a timer state. A timer is assigned to the connection and the processor module manages the resolution of the timer. The processor module sends a request to the timer module for arming the timer and the timer module sets the timer state as active in a first storage location maintained by the timer state module; and responds to the processor module after the timer is activated. The processor module uses the information in the response for requesting a disarm operation.

Timers and methods thereof for computing devices

Methods and systems for routing frames are provided. A routing module of a network device stores a destination address for a virtual machine with a virtual bridge identifier associated with a virtual bridge. The virtual bridge identifier is associated with a queue pair that is used by the virtual machine to send and receive information using the virtual bridge. The network device also includes a port connected to a link for sending and receiving the information and the virtual bridge is associated with the port. The routing module is used to determine the destination of a frame whether the frame is sent by an external device or the virtual machine.

Method and system for communication in a virtual machine environment

Machine implemented method and system are provided. A processor for a computing device allocates an address range with an address to write to an intermediate storage location. The processor configures a device communicating with the computing device for writing information at the intermediate storage location and at a plurality of storage locations. The computing device sends the address for the intermediate storage location with data that needs to be written at one of the plurality of storage locations with an identifier identifying the one of the plurality of storage locations; and the device first writes the data at the intermediate storage location and then updates the one of the plurality of storage locations identified by the identifier.

Method and system for communication between a computing system and a device

Method and system for application isolation is provided. A computing system executes a plurality of processor executable applications and each application is assigned an address by an adapter that is operationally coupled to the computing system. The adapter also assigns a unique identifier to each construct generated by the plurality of applications; maintains a data structure associating the address with the unique identifier assigned to each construct; receives a request having an address and a unique identifier from an application from among the plurality of applications; retrieves the address and the unique identifier from the request; compares the retrieved address and the unique identifier with information maintained by the data structure; and processes the request if the retrieved address and the unique identifier matches with information of the data structure.

Method and system for application isolation

Machine implemented method and system is provided. The method includes sending a packet to a device by a computing system; determining an address for the packet, where an interface logic for the device determines the address; updating a location associated with the address; where the interface logic for the device updates the location; updating a bitmap value associated with the location to indicate to a processor for the device that a location associated with the address has been updated; where the interface logic updates the bitmap value; clearing the bitmap value by writing a same value that is read by the processor for the device; and processing the packet received by the device.

Method and system for communication across multiple channels

A machine implemented method and system for communication between a computing system and an adapter is provided. An application from among a plurality of applications sends a message to the adapter with a value V. The adapter queues the message at the first storage location and writes the value V at a second storage location after the message is successfully queued at the first storage location. To determine if the message was successfully queued, the computing system reads the written value at the second storage location and compares it to the value V that was sent with the message.
