Systems and methods for validating transceivers comprise using a first controller to perform a validation prior to granting a second controller access to the transceiver to communicate in a data plane and, otherwise, restricting the second controller from accessing the transceiver and operating in the data plane to isolate the transceiver from the data plane and protect the second controller from an unqualified or rogue transceiver triggering a recovery procedure, reboot procedure, or similar that otherwise would require manual intervention by technical support personnel and increase equipment downtime and cost.

Transceiver validation ports for network switches

When an event occurs in the network that affects an information handling system in the network, a topology change notice (TCN) may be propagated so that the network topology can be regenerated. However, currently, there is no mechanism to readily identify the source information handling system of the TCN. To address issues, in one or more embodiments, when an information handling system (such as a network switch) initiates a TCN, it sends a specialized message to keep track of the source of the TCN. In one or more embodiments, information handling systems that receive the specialized message may record information about the source and forward it to other information handling systems in the network.

Described herein are methods and a system for placing a network and devices in life support when it is determined that a network event necessitates such. Interconnected devices on the network are monitored, devices providing status such as temperature. Based on status, a life support event is determined. If it is determined that life support is needed, devices and services are prioritized. Monitoring is performed as to changes in the network and devices. The network and devices are returned to normal operation if the monitoring determines a normal status.

An inter-device cabling movement system includes a base and a plurality of cable attachment devices that extend from the base in a port identification sequence. Each of the plurality of cable attachment devices includes a cable engagement element that is configured to engage a respective cable, and a cable securing element that is configured to secure the cable engagement element to the respective cable. The cable engagement elements and cable securing elements may be utilized to secure each cable attachment device to respective cables connected to first ports on a first device so that those respective cables may be disconnected from the first pots on the first device and reconnected to second ports on a second device based on the port identification sequence.

The technology described herein is directed towards intelligently controlling the power consumed by light emitting diodes (LEDs) of network devices, such as present in a datacenter. An internal device agent, application and/or centralized monitoring system can determine when to activate and deactivate LEDs, such as to activate when a group of devices is likely being observed, and deactivate otherwise. Devices can be grouped for collective control, such as a group per rack of network devices with their LEDs activated and deactivated together. Sensors, such as rack cabinet door sensors, motion sensors and so on can be used to detect whether a group of devices is likely being observed; an action such as closing the door or walking away can be sensed to deactivate the LEDs. After LED activation, expiration of a configurable timer can be used to deactivate the LEDs. Significant power savings are thus achievable in various network scenarios.

Systems and methods for visually identifying equipment in a data center

A connector seating detection system includes a device having a port that includes at least one port communication contact. A connector seating sensor is located adjacent the port. A connector seating detection subsystem is coupled to the connector seating sensor. When a connector is positioned in the port while not engaging at least one port communication contact by a threshold amount, the connector seating detection subsystem receives an unseated connector signal from the connector seating sensor and, in response, generates an unseated connector indication. When a connector is positioned in the port while engaging at least one port communication contact the threshold amount, the connector seating detection subsystem receives a seated connector signal from the connector seating sensor and, in response, generates a seated connector indication.

A connector connection verification system includes a cable connector and a networking device. The networking device includes a port system defining a port and including a networking device connector, and at least one cable connector sensor device that is located adjacent the port. The cable connector sensor device(s) detects that the cable connector is inserted in the port defined by the port system while the cable connector does not mate with the networking device connector included in the port system and, in response, transmits an incorrect connection signal that indicates that the cable connector is incorrectly connected to the port system. A management interface provided on the networking device may receive the incorrect connection signal from the cable connector sensor device(s), and provide information that describes the cable connector and that indicates that the cable connector is incorrectly connected to the port system for display on a display device.

An information handling system may include a chassis configured to house components of the information handling system and a modular power supply module configured to be readily removable from the chassis. The modular power supply module may include an enclosure, power supply components housed within the enclosure, an air mover configured to drive airflow to cool one or more components of the information handling system, and a mechanical assembly configured to mechanically couple the air mover to the enclosure that enables a user to remove the air mover from the enclosure while still coupled to the enclosure via the mechanical assembly, rotate the air mover 180 degrees relative to the enclosure while still coupled to the enclosure via the mechanical assembly, and reinsert the air mover into the enclosure, in order to modify a direction of airflow driven by the air mover.

An aggregated networking device failover system includes an aggregation connected device coupled to first and second aggregated networking devices. The aggregation connected device receives a first aggregation communication from the first aggregated networking device that identifies its first MAC address as an actor MAC address, and a second MAC address of the second aggregated networking device as an alternate actor MAC address. The aggregation connected device then associates the first and second MAC addresses with an aggregated link to the first and second aggregated networking devices. Subsequent to associating the first and second MAC addresses with the aggregated link, the aggregation connected device receives a second aggregation communication from the second aggregated networking device that identifies its second MAC address as an actor MAC address, and the aggregated link remains available in response to that second/actor MAC address being associated with the aggregated link.

Methods, systems, and devices for providing computer implemented services using managed systems are disclosed. To provide the computer implemented services, the managed systems and/or communication devices may need to operate in a predetermined manner conducive to, for example, execution of applications that provide the computer implemented services. To manage communications in such systems, a highly available service may, upon changes in topology of a deployment including managed system and communication devices, initiate a cooperative process for determining how to communicate in the deployment. The process may be performed to select a new global maximum transmission unit (MTU). Once selected, the deployment may be reconfigured based on the selected global MTU to limit the size of network data units. The global MTU may be selected to limit network data unit fragmentation, network data unit dropping, and unused space in data transmissions.
