A transfer tail forming apparatus for weft feeders fed to a weaving machine, wherein a tail end of a feeder now in use and a leading end of a preliminary feeder are connected together using a knotter. The tail end and the leading end are automatically positioned and held in a predetermined position by a positioning apparatus, and the yarn ends are connected together by the knotter to form a transfer tail. Further, by the provision of a stand-by apparatus the transfer tail is held in a predetermined posture, and when the whole quantity of the weft on the feeder now in use has been consumed, the leading end of the preliminary feeder can be introduced into the weaving machine in a continuous manner. Moreover, when the supply of weft from the feeder now in use is discontinued, the introduction of the leading end from the preliminary feeder is made possible by the stand-by apparatus. Additionally, by combining with the apparatus a conveyance cassette having a yarn end fixing member at the time of conveyance of a feeder to a feeder stand, the leading end and tail end of the feeder can be held automatically for the above positioning apparatus.

Transfer tail forming apparatus for weft feeders

Multiple-color air jet looms successively insert different kinds of weft threads into warp sheds to weave a fabric of desired construction. The different weft threads are subjected to different resistances to their being drawn through a main nozzle and are carried on air jets under different conditions, so that the weft threads will be inserted unstably at different speeds. With the arrangement of the invention, selected weft threads for insertion are carried, one at a time, through the warp shed under respective different weft carrying forces suited for the weft threads. The different weft carrying forces may be produced by varying pressures at which air is ejected, intervals of time during which air is ejected under pressure, or the manner in which subnozzles are positioned along the warp shed. There is provided a control means for changing the air pressures and ejection time intervals in synchronism with operation of the air jet loom.

Method and apparatus for inserting weft threads in multiple-color air

In an alternate weaving system on a fluid-jet type loom, two or main nozzles for different yarns and combined in a vertically juxtaposed arrangement are driven for common vertical reciprocation in parallel to a vertical plane including the air guide or reed array of the loom for sequential and alternate registration at an operational position corresponding to the entrance to a weft transportation channel formed by the array, thereby allowing an as close as possible location of the main nozzles to the entrance to that fluid ejected by the main nozzles should be wholly caught into the channel for stable weft insertion purposes.

Method and apparatus for shifting main nozzles on a fluid-jet type loom

A weft transfer control system for an air jet loom having a main nozzle and a plurality of weft supply members. The system includes a detecting circuit for detecting the release of a weft that is transferred from one weft supply member to another weft supply member and for generating a transfer signal. A control box includes dials for presetting plural initial supply pressures for the main nozzle, corresponding to each of the weft supply members. The control box receives the transfer signal and generates a control signal corresponding to the preset initial supply pressure for the corresponding weft supply member. An electromagnetic air pressure valve and a regulator adjust the supply pressure to the main nozzle to correspond to the preset initial supply pressure on the basis of the control signal. A delay circuit delays the operation of the electromagnetic air pressure valve for a predetermined time to delay the adjustment to the preset initial supply pressure, so that the change in the supply pressure coincides with the ejection of the transfer tail of the weft from the main nozzle.

Weft transfer control system in an air jet loom

On a drum-type weft reservoir for fluid jet looms, a single control pin used for control of reservation and delivery of weft is kept, without any detection of unwind of weft under delivery, away from engagement with weft on a reservoir drum over a period of a length necessary for delivery of weft for one cycle of weft insertion, preferably in combinating with an expedient for barring accidental slip-out of weft under delivery.

Weft reservoir for fluid jet looms

On a fluid jet loom on which a reed is formed by an array of air guide elements having front cutouts for defining an air guide channel, an auxiliary reed is arranged movable towards and away from the reed in order to temporarily cover the front opening of the air guide channel at least during weft insertion, thereby significantly reducing air leakage from the air guide channel for low power consumption and blocking plunge of weft out of the air guide channel for stable weft insertion.

In a system to effect supplemental ejection of highly pressured operating fluid on a fluid-jet type shuttleless loom, the ejection terminal of each auxiliary nozzle is normally held at a stand-by position below and untouchable to the lower warp sheet of an open shed, but, only at the timing of the supplemental ejection, provisionally moved along a straight path of travel substantially parallel to the warp direction and substantially perpendicular to the lower warp sheet to an operating position in a specified area including the yarn guide channel in order to allow, on the one hand, correctly directed supplemental ejection in the close proximity of the advancing weft and, on the other hand, free and normal beating motion by the reed without any damage on the warps.
