A vehicular drive unit comprises a central differential mechanism and a front-wheel side axle differential mechanism. The central differential mechanism comprises a first planetary gear train, which includes an output gear body, a first carrier, which is provided in a one-piece body with this gear body, a first sun gear, a first ring gear, and a rear-wheel drive gear, which is a helical gear formed around this ring gear in a one-piece body. In this drive unit, a differential limiter C is provided between the output gear body(input rotating member) and a drive gear body(output rotating member) to generate a rotational resistance, which acts to reduce the rotational difference between the output gear bodyand the drive gear body

Vehicular four-wheel drive unit

The four-wheel drive system for vehicles has a center differential mechanism that divides the rotational driving force from the engine E between the front and rear wheels, and a front wheel side axle differential mechanism that divides this divided rotational driving force between the left and right front wheels. The center differential mechanism is constructed from a single pinion type first planetary gear device which has a first carrier that receives the rotational driving force from the engine E, a first sun gear , and a first ring gear that is connected to the rear wheel side, and the axle differential mechanism is constructed from a double pinion type second planetary gear device which has a second ring gear that is connected to the first sun gear , a second sun gear that is connected to the right front wheel, and a second carrier that is connected to the left front wheel. The first and second planetary gear devices are disposed adjacent to each other in a coaxial configuration.

Four-wheel drive system for vehicles

A constant velocity universal joint comprises a plurality of trunnions which are formed to be spherical, sliding surfaces which extend in a flat configuration along an axial direction of an outer cup, and pairs of slipper members having one side surfaces which are formed with recesses for making contact with spherical surfaces of the trunnions and the other side surfaces which are formed with flat surfaces to make contact with the sliding surfaces, wherein the pair of slipper members are provided slidably with respect to the sliding surface and the spherical surface of the trunnion.

Constant velocity universal joint

A hydraulic coupling device includes left and right vane pumps which discharge working oil in response to the relative rotation of main driven wheels and left and right subsidiary driven wheels. First orifices are defined in a side plate disposed between the left and right vane pumps to permit communication between intake ports and discharge ports in the vane pumps. Orifices are defined in the side plate to permit communication between the intake ports and between the discharge ports in the vane pumps. With the above arrangement, in a hydraulic coupling device of a power transmitting system in a four-wheel drive vehicle, the formation of the orifices can be easily carried out, and the characteristics of the orifices can be stabilized.

Tripod joints, each of which includes revolvable rollers to be directly fitted to outer circumferential surfaces of spider shafts, are provided respectively at both ends of an input-side shaft to which slave driving force is transmitted. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent a slave driving system from transmission of unnecessary torque, and obtain a slave driving force-transmitting mechanism which is compact and light in weight, having a structure simplified as compared with those of the conventional technique.
