In a decision control device of a control system, a predetermined pass schedule is decided by adjusting the rolling force per unit width at a last stand of a hot finishing tandem rolling mill to cause the edge profile on the outlet side of the last stand to fall within an allowable range based on the relationship between a strip crown and the edge profile on the outlet side of the last stand with respect to the rolling force per unit width and a strip shape control parameter, obtained regarding the last stand, and adjusting the strip shape control parameter of the last stand to cause the strip shape on the outlet side of the last stand to fall within an allowable range and cause the strip crown to become a predetermined value or smaller.

A steel plate splicing facility includes, a steel plate heating apparatus for retrieving and heating a preceding steel plate and a following steel plate, and a shear-joining apparatus for clamping a tail end portion of the preceding steel plate and a leading end portion of the following steel plate in an overlapping condition by a die and a clamp and shearing them with a punch, such that surfaces of the tail end portion and the leading end portion are newly formed and brought in contact with each other in order to them. A continuous hot rolling mill with a metal block conveying apparatus and a metal block joining apparatus which moves with the metal blocks along the metal block conveying apparatus to conform a joining operation. The metal block conveying apparatus uses rollers supported by cylinders with a common hydraulic circuit which allows the cylinders to follow guide rails on the metal block joining apparatus and lower out of the path of the metal block joining apparatus and then return to a metal block support position after the metal block joining apparatus' passage without individual control circuits and valves for each of the cylinders.

Continuous hot rolling mill with metal block conveying apparatus

The invention comprises a continuous hot rolling method in which a rear end portion of a preceding metal block and a fore end portion of a succeeding metal block are cut and the metal blocks are joined to each other by heating and pressing followed by a finish rolling. A region of each metal block is restrained from a clamping position to the end portion thereof in order to prevent a change in level of the metal blocks in heating and pressing the piece. The end portions of the metal blocks can be thus prevented from deformation.

An object of the present invention is to provide a cross rolling machine in which the simplification of a drive system and the improved rigidity of a housing are achieved, the accuracy of crossing operation is enhanced, and the economical efficiency is high. To achieve the above object, a pair of top work roll chock,and top backup roll chock,are fixed by operating hydraulic cylinders,and,on the delivery side in synchronism to move pressing members,and,in the direction of delivery side to the position for positioning and by moving pressing members,and,on the entrance side in the direction of delivery side by hydraulic cylinders,and,on the entrance side to press the chocks,and,on the pressing members,and,on the delivery side. A pair of bottom work roll chock,and bottom backup chock,are positioned on the entrance side and fixed by operating hydraulic cylinders,and,in the opposite direction (entrance direction). Thus, the top pair and the bottom pair are pair crossed.

According to the invention, the rear end of a preceding metal piece and a front end of a succeeding metal piece are heated, pressed and joined prior to the finishing hot rolling. An alternating magnetic field running through the metal pieces in the thickness direction thereof is generated in an end region on opposed faces of the respective metal pieces to perform heating. Another alternating magnetic field whose direction is reverse with respect to that of the former alternating magnetic field is partially generated in the end region on the opposed faces of the metal pieces and in either a region where the metal pieces exist or a region outside width ends of the metal pieces. This assures a uniform heating of the end region on the opposed faces of the metal pieces over their full width to reliably join the both metal pieces to each other.

A grinding body for on-line roll grinding has a grindstone of a cup shape. The grindstone is on a surface portion, and near a peripheral edge, of a circular support base plate, so that a peripheral edge portion of the circular support base plate has on a surface side thereof a two-layer structure. This two-layered structure includes a flat ring-shaped portion jutting toward an inner periphery so as to define a groove opening inward. The grindstone is mounted on the flat ring-shaped portion; and a damping material is filled and mounted into the groove. This grinding body can effectively prevent the formation of a spiral mark and a pitching surface mark, improve the grinding power and grinding accuracy, and prolong the life of the grindstone.

Method and apparatus for joining metal pieces using induction heating. Metal pieces to be joined are placed end-to-end with a gap between them and induction heated in the thickness portion. To maximize speed and even heating edge-to-edge of the ends, members of a magnetic substance are provided in a gap between the inductor and the piece to be heated, thereby enhancing local heating effect by increasing magnetic flux density. Once heated, the ends are pressed together end-to-end for joining.

In the present invention, in cutting the top and bottom surfaces of a hot-rolled sheet by the rotation of milling cutters holding the sheet therebetween in the thickness direction of the sheet in the running process of the hot-rolled sheet, the cutting resistance determined by the cutting conditions including the type of hot-rolled sheet, the temperature in cutting, and the cut depth is controlled by the adjustment of cut depth, and cutting is performed by making the tension produced on the hot-rolled sheet by the cutting resistance lower than the breaking strength of the joint portion to prevent the breakage of hot-rolled sheet.
