In one aspect of the disclosure, a method of wireless communication performed by a receiving device includes receiving, from a transmitting device, a plurality of encoded packets each including at least one respective physical (PHY) layer symbol. The method includes decoding the plurality of encoded packets based on a raptor code to generate received data. The method also includes determining a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) associated with receiving the plurality of encoded packets, receiving an indication from the transmitting device, or determining a channel quality indicator (CQI) or a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) associated with receiving the plurality of encoded packets. The method further includes adaptively determining a PHY packet error rate associated with the plurality of encoded packets based on the SINR, the indication, the CQI, or the MCS. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Packet encoding based on raptor codes to enable adaptive physical layer error rate determination or selection

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a device may select antenna elements from a planar array to transmit or receive an orbital angular momentum (OAM) beam. The device may determine a first area (e.g., a first ring area) based on an angular direction over which the device can communicate an OAM beam with a second device and may determine a second area (e.g., a second ring area) on the planar array based on projecting the first area on the planar array. The device may select a set of antenna elements from the planar array that are located within the second area. The device may determine a complex-valued weight for each antenna element of the selected set of antenna elements and may transmit or receive an OAM beam to or from the second device via the set of antenna elements according to the angular direction.

Generating and steering orbital angular momentum beams

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first network entity may encode first information using keying modulation. The first network entity may encode second information using frequency modulated continuous waveform (FMCW) modulation. Layered modulation communication

Aspects of the disclosure relate to wireless communication utilizing a modulation and coding scheme that selectively or dynamically applies probabilistically-shaped coding (PCS) to modulate a transmitted waveform. A communication device may determine whether to apply PCS. If PCS is to be applied, the device can encode the message based on a systematic code; and if PCS is not to be applied, the device can encode the message based on a non-systematic code. Constellation shaping-related coding selection

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a wireless user equipment (UE) configured to receive a downlink in a network configured for full duplex communication. The UE receives from the network an indication of a maximum rank of an uplink from an interfering, aggressor UE. The UE measures interference of a signal from the aggressor UE, and based on the measurement, determines one or more rank values for the aggressor UE, less than or equal to the maximum rank. The UE may further determine one or more channel parameters for downlink transmissions the UE receives, corresponding to the determined rank values. The UE then transmits a channel state information (CSI) report that includes an indication of at least one of the one or more rank values for the aggressor UE. The CSI report may further include the determined channel parameters. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for sending, from an upper layer at a transmitting device to a lower layer at the transmitting device, an indication by which the lower layer determines that a packet is to be transmitted as either an initial transmission or as a retransmission. The lower layer at the transmitting device may then determine a transmission process for transmitting the packet based on the indication, and the transmitting device may transmit the packet in accordance with the transmission process. Because the lower layer may identify whether the packet is to be transmitted as either the initial transmission or the retransmission, the lower layer may adapt the transmission process to improve the chances that the packet is received by a receiving device or to limit overhead.

Assistance signaling for radio link control retransmissions

A wireless communication apparatus and method using probabilistic constellation shaping in connection with modulation. A wireless transmission device may determine a sequence of amplitude symbols from a sequence of information bits using a distribution matcher (DM) configured for probabilistic amplitude shaping. The device may further apply error correction coding to encode an information block corresponding to at least a portion of the sequence of amplitude symbols. And the device may generate a sequence of output symbols for transmission based on the encoded information block. The device may apply interleaving to one or more of the sequence of amplitude symbols, the information block, the encoded information block, or a combination of the sequence of amplitude symbols and the encoded information block, for the generating of the sequence of output symbols.

In some aspects, an aerial node may determine, among a set of beams, one or more beams to be muted to mitigate potential interference associated with multiple aerial nodes transmitting to a terrestrial user equipment (UE). Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device may receive one or more service data units (SDUs) at a layer two (L2) layer of the transmitting device. The transmitting device may encode, at the L2 layer, the one or more SDUs according to one or more network coding parameters to obtain at least one encoded protocol data unit (PDU), the one or more network coding parameters comprising a rateless code. The transmitting device may generate, for the at least one encoded PDU, at least one corresponding PDU header. The transmitting device may output the at least one encoded PDU and the at least one corresponding PDU header from the L2 layer to a lower layer of the transmitting device for transmission to one or more receiving devices.

A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a channel state information (CSI) configuration indicating a first feedback reporting periodicity for a dominant, or strong, spatial layer and a second feedback reporting periodicity for a non-dominant, or weak, spatial layer. The UE may transmit a first CSI report for at least the dominant spatial layer according to the first feedback reporting periodicity. The UE may transmit a second CSI report for the non-dominant spatial layer according to the second feedback reporting periodicity. In some cases, for aperiodic reporting, the UE may be triggered by downlink control information to report CSI for the dominant spatial layer. In some cases, the CSI configuration may indicate different codebooks for the dominant and non-dominant spatial layers.

Layer-specific feedback periodicity

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit an encoded transmission via a broadcast to multiple user equipment (UE). Subsequently, the multiple UEs may transmit assistance information to the base station based on attempting to decode the broadcasted encoded transmission. If the decoding is unsuccessful for at least one UE, the base station may then transmit an additional encoded transmission via a unicast or multicast message to the UEs that were unsuccessful. Additionally, the base station may transmit configuration information for the multiple UEs to receive the encoded transmissions and to transmit the assistance information. For example, the configuration information may include portion information for how long the encoded transmission is transmitted via the broadcast, via the unicast, when to transmit the assistance information, etc. In some cases, the configuration information may be based on UE metrics of the multiple UEs.
