Amphiphilic block copolymers and inorganic nanofillers to enhance performance of thermosetting polymers

A solvent-free curable epoxy resin composition including (a) at least one divinylarene dioxide; and (b) at least one hardener; wherein the solvent-free curable epoxy resin composition is substantially free of solvent and has at least two exotherm peaks and wherein the exothermic peak difference of the two exotherm peaks is sufficient to allow the curable solvent-free epoxy resin composition of being B-staged.

Curable resin compositions

A curable epoxy resin composition including (a) at least one epoxy resin; and (b) at least one hardener; wherein the curable epoxy resin composition has at least two exotherm peaks representing at least two distinct chemical reactions and wherein the exothermic peak difference of the two exotherm peaks is sufficient to allow the curable epoxy resin composition of being B-staged.

A composition comprising (1) a thermosettable resin selected from the group consisting of an epoxy resin, an epoxy vinyl ester resin, an unsaturated polyester resin or a mixture thereof, and (2) an amphiphilic mock copolymer dispersed in the thermosettable resin; fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP), coatings and composites prepared therefrom; and methods of preparing these.

Amphiphilic block copolymer-toughened thermoset resins

A curable resin composition and powder coating compositions made therefrom including (a) an epoxy resin; (b) an amphiphilic block copolymer containing at least one epoxy resin miscible block segment and at least one epoxy resin immiscible block segment; wherein the immiscible block segment comprises at least one polyether structure provided that the polyether structure of said immiscible block segment contains at least one or more alkylene oxide monomer units having at least four carbon atoms; such that when the epoxy resin composition is cured, the toughness of the resulting cured epoxy resin composition is increased; and (c) at least one curing agent required for the manufacturing, application and proper performance of the powder coating. The amphiphilic block copolymer is preferably an all polyether block copolymer such as a PEO-PBO diblock copolymer or a PEO-PBO-PEO triblock copolymer.

Amphiphilic block copolymer-toughened epoxy resins and powder coatings made therefrom

A curable laminate epoxy composition comprising (a) an epoxy resin; (b) an amphiphilic block copolymer containing at least one epoxy resin miscible block segment and at least one epoxy resin immiscible block segment; wherein the immiscible block segment comprises at least one polyether structure provided that the polyether structure of said immiscible block segment contains at least one or more alkylene oxide monomer units having at least four carbon atoms; such that when the epoxy resin composition is cured, the toughness of the resulting cured epoxy resin composition is increased; (c) a curing agent; and (d) a curing catalyst. The amphiphilic block copolymer is preferably an all polyether block copolymer such as a PEO-PBO diblock copolymer or a PEO-PBO-PEO triblock copolymer.

Amphiphilic block copolymer-toughened epoxy resins and electrical laminates made therefrom

A curable adhesive epoxy resin composition including (a) an epoxy resin; (b) an amphiphilic block copolymer containing at least one epoxy resin miscible block segment and at least one epoxy resin immiscible block segment; wherein the immiscible block segment comprises at least one polyether structure provided that the polyether structure of said immiscible block segment contains at least one or more alkylene oxide monomer units having at least four carbon atoms; in an amount such that when the epoxy resin composition is cured, the bond strength of the resulting cured epoxy adhesive resin composition increases compared to an epoxy resin composition without said amphiphilic polyether block copolymer; and (c) at least one curing agent. The amphiphilic block copolymer is preferably an all polyether block copolymer such as a PEO-PBO diblock copolymer or a PEO-PBO-PEO triblock copolymer.
