Syntactic polyurethane elastomers are made using a non-mercury catalyst. The elastomer is made from a reaction mixture containing a polyether polyol having a low amount of terminal unsaturation, a chain extender, a polyisocyanate and microspheres. The elastomer adheres well to itself, which makes it very useful as thermal insulation for pipelines and other structures that have a complex geometry.

Syntactic polyurethane elastomers based on low unsaturation polyols for use in subsea pipeline insulation

Elastomers are prepared from a reaction mixture that contains a polyene compound, an epoxy resin, a thiol curing agent and a basic catalyst. The polyene compound has an average of at least two groups containing aliphatic carbon-carbon double bonds capable of reaction with a thiol group. At least one of said aliphatic carbon-carbon double bonds is separated from each other said aliphatic carbon-carbon double bond by an aliphatic spacer group having a weight of at least 500 atomic mass units. These elastomers are typically phase-separated materials having good elongation and tensile properties.

Phase-segmented non-isocyanate elastomers

Flexible polyurethane foams are made using certain hydrolysable silane compounds in the foam formulation. The hydrolysable silane compounds contain at least one isocyanate-reactive group and at least one hydrolysable silane group. The presence of the hydrolysable silane compound in the foam formulation leads to improved tensile, tear and elongation properties without an adverse effect on other important foam properties such as resiliency and hysteresis loss.

Method for preparing flexible polyurethane foam with hydrolysable silane compounds

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a composition that includes a phosphorous-containing compound, a cyanate ester, an epoxy resin, and a maleimide. For the various embodiments, a viscosity of the composition increases less than 100% as measured by Gardner Bubble Viscosity a temperature of 23&#xb0; C. in at least 3 days. For the various embodiments, the composition of the present disclosure can also include an aprotic solvent, such as a ketone. Embodiments of the present disclosure further include a composition that includes the phosphorous-containing compound, the cyanate ester, and the aprotic solvent. For the various embodiments, the composition can also include the epoxy resin and the maleimide. For the various embodiments, the composition does not include an aliphatic alcohol.

Compositions having phosphorus-containing compounds

Moisture curable compositions including silylated polymers and methods for producing the same are provided. A two component moisture curable system for producing a cured or cross-linked silylated polymer having improved compression set properties is provided. The two component system comprises a first formulation and a second formulation. The first formulation comprises a silylated polymer, water, and filler and the second formulation comprises the silylated polymer, a curing catalyst comprising at least one Br&#xf8;nsted acid, and a moisture scavenger. The final cured formulation may have a compression set, determined by ASTM D395 or ISO 815-1, of less than 100%, and in some examples less than 50% and in some examples less than 15%. This demonstrated improvement in compression set not only allows the silylated polymers to be used in applications where cyclic loads are applied but also enhances product durability.

Methods of producing a composition comprising a crosslinkable silane-terminated polymer having at least one crosslinkable silyl group in each molecule are provided. The method may comprise providing a polymer having at least one unsaturated group and at least one alcohol hydroxyl group in each molecule and having a number average molecular weight between about 100 and about 5,000, adding to the polymer a compound having a hydrogen-silicon bond and a crosslinkable silyl group in each molecule and a hydrosilylation catalyst to thereby carry out a hydrosilylation reaction to form a composition comprising hydrosilylated polymers, wherein the hydrosilylation reaction has a hydrosilylation efficiency greater than 50% as determined byH-NMR, capping the hydrosilylated polymers by adding the hydrosilylated polymer to at least one isocyanate at an index of between about 100 and about 250, and reacting the isocyanate capped hydrosilylated polymer with a polyol having a nominal functionality of at least 2 to form the composition comprising a crosslinkable silane-terminated polymer.

Process for making low viscosity, fast curing silane terminated polymers

A copolymer-filled crosslinkable silane-terminated polymer having at least one crosslinkable silyl group in each molecule is provided. The copolymer-filled crosslinkable silane-terminated polymer is the reaction product of a copolymer-filled polyol and an isocyanate capped hydrosilylated polymer. The isocyanate capped hydrosilylated polymer is the reaction product of at least one isocyanate and a hydrosilylated polymer. The hydrosilylated polymer is the reaction product of a polymer having at least one unsaturated group and at least one alcoholic group in each molecule and a compound having a hydrogen-silicon bond and a crosslinkable silyl group in each molecule. The copolymer-filled crosslinkable silane-terminated polymers exhibit improved modulus and tensile strength properties while maintaining elongation properties.

Silane terminated polymer for coating, adhesives, sealant and elastomer applications

Embodiments of the invention provide for methods of producing a composition comprising a crosslinkable silane-terminated polymer having at least one crosslinkable silyl group in each molecule. The method comprises providing a polymer having at least one unsaturated group and at least one alcoholic hydroxyl group in each molecule, adding to the polymer a compound having a hydrogen-silicon bond and a crosslinkable silyl group in each molecule and a hydrosilylation catalyst to thereby carry out a hydrosilylation reaction to form a composition comprising hydrosilylated polyoxyalkylene polymers, reacting the hydrosilylated polyoxyalkylene polymers with at least one isocyanate in the presence of a first tin-free catalyst to form an isocyanate reacted hydrosilylated polymer, and optionally reacting the isocyanate reacted hydrosilylated polymer with a polyol having a nominal functionality of at least 2 to form a polyol reacted crosslinkable silane-terminated polymer.

Tin free silyl-terminated polymers

Embodiment of the invention provide for compositions having at least one crosslinkable silyl group in each molecule. The crosslinkable silane-terminated polymer may include a reaction product of at least a polyol having a nominal functionality of at least 2 and a isocyanate capped hydrosilylated polymer. The isocyanate capped hydrosilylated polymer may include a reaction product of at least one isocyanate and a hydrosilylated polymer. The hydrosilylated polymer may include a reaction product of a the reaction of at least a) a polymer having at least one unsaturated group and at least one alcoholic hydroxyl group in each molecule and having a number average molecular weight of between about 100 and about 5000 and b) a compound having a hydrogen-silicon bond and a crosslinkable silyl group in each molecule.
