In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) recognizes a set of faces within a set of media files stored on the UE using facial recognition. The UE identifies a set of prevalent faces based on a set of criteria including a prevalence of one or more faces among the set of media files. The UE scans real-time media using facial recognition to determine whether any prevalent faces from the set of prevalent faces are present in the real-time media. The UE performs an action based on whether the scanning detects any prevalent faces from the set of prevalent faces in the real-time media. By way of example, the action may include adding one or more enhancement effects to the real-time media, authorizing a communicative operation to proceed, authorizing access to the UE, or any combination thereof.

Further, transmitting a buffer signal based on determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal indicating one of a request to buffer the PTX message segment and a recipient storage indication signifying the PTX message segment will be stored in a memory of the recipient PTX device. Further still, transmitting a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output PTX message segments.

Methods, systems and devices are provided for managing electronic communications on a communication device including receiving an incoming call indication from an originating device. The methods, system and devices may include transmitting a delay indication in response to determining the delayed call acceptance is warranted and receiving a first message segment and subsequently a second message segment from the originating device. Additionally, they may include outputting at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment in response to determining whether to output at least one of the first message segment and the second message segment. Embodiments may include establishing a group communication channel with devices in a first operating mode in response to inputs on a user interface, detecting actuation of a lock mechanism, such as a target-based sliding lock mechanism on a touchscreen user interface display, and while the lock mechanism is actuated, maintaining the group communication channel in a second operating mode. The second operating mode may be a lockout mode and/or a blocking mode with respect to at least one other device in the group communication.

User experience enhancements for conducting group communication sessions may include displaying visual feedback on a display to indicate a state of a group communication session. Embodiments may include establishing a group communication channel with devices in a first operating mode in response to inputs on a user interface, detecting actuation of a target-based sliding lock mechanism on a touchscreen user interface display, and while the locking mechanism is actuated, maintaining the group communication channel in a second operating mode. Other embodiments may include initiating a group communication session in response to a user input, detecting actuation of a locking mechanism by a user on a user interface, sending a request to a server for a priority floor access in response to the detected actuation of the locking mechanism, and while the locking mechanism is actuated, maintaining a group communication channel with one or more devices in a priority access mode.

The disclosure is directed to requesting and providing acknowledgements to a talk spurt in a group communication. An embodiment transmits the talk spurt to one or more recipients participating in the group communication, receives a selection of one or more target recipients among the one or more participating recipients, and transmits a request to each of the one or more target recipients to acknowledge the talk spurt. An embodiment receives, at a mobile device, a talk spurt during the group communication, receives, at the mobile device, a request to acknowledge the talk spurt, and transmits, by the mobile device, an acknowledgement (ACK) or a negative acknowledgement (NACK) in response to the request without obtaining the floor of the group communication.

A content recommendation apparatus and method gives users a peer-to-peer, highly personal way to discover new content by being introduced to one or more similar users. A similar user is a user that has a correlation to another user based on their preferences and behaviors (e.g., downloaded content, frequency of use, content currently have on device, browsing behaviors, content organizational habits, etc.). A catalog of content, or a designated portion thereof, can be used at least in part for finding matches and for identifying content to suggest to another. Data about user behavior can serve to connect the user to similar individuals for the purpose of discovering new content.
