A patient interface is disclosed, comprising a chassis portion having a pair of laterally projecting connection portions configured to connect to gas delivery tubes, a seal-forming structure and a vent. The seal forming structure may comprise a central portion configured to seal in use against an inferior periphery of the patients nose and a pair of lateral posterior regions. Each lateral posterior region may comprise a decoupling portion configured to at least partially decouple the central portion from a respective one of the laterally projecting connection portions. The seal-forming structure may comprise rigidising portions, a central anterior portion having a superior portion stiffer than an inferior portion, mid-lateral anterior portions having superior portions stiffer than inferior portions, and/or a lip superior portion having an anterior portion stiffer than a posterior portion. The chassis portion may be formed from a flexible material and may comprise chassis superior reinforcing portions.

A patient interface may include a plenum chamber pressurisable to a therapeutic pressure, a seal-forming structure constructed and arranged to form a seal with a region of the patient's face surrounding an entrance to the patient's airways, a positioning and stabilising structure to provide a force to hold the seal-forming structure in a therapeutically effective position on the patient's head, and a vent structure to allow a continuous flow of gases exhaled by the patient from an interior of the plenum chamber to ambient, wherein the patient interface is configured to leave the patient's mouth uncovered during therapy, wherein the seal-forming structure comprises two lateral support regions, each located at a lateralmost side of the seal-forming structure, and a medial region positioned between the lateral support regions, the hole passing through the medial region, and wherein the lateral support regions are thicker than the medial region.

Patient interface

A mask apparatus for a respiratory treatment can permit delivery of breathable gas to a user. In one example, the mask may employ a frame and cushion to form a seal for both mouth and nose. The frame may be adapted for coupling with a respiratory treatment apparatus so as to permit communication of a pressurized gas from the respiratory treatment apparatus. The cushion, which may be foam, may have a substantially under the nose configuration or over the nose configuration. The mask may have a common plenum chamber for both nose and mouth. The cushion may further define a centrally open lip superior region. The cushion may be adapted to couple with the frame directly or to the frame in conjunction with a cushion support clip. Various features of the cushion may further promote sealing and comfort for the under the nose design.
