Systems and methods are disclosed herein to provide improved online security testing of security devices and networks, including but not limited to networks containing wireless access points. In accordance with one or more embodiments and aspects thereof, a distributed online test system is disclosed that combines an online test manager with one or more remote probes to generate simulated attacks and verify their effectiveness. Such a system may offer improved capabilities such as the ability to conduct attacks over geographically distributed network topologies, the ability to assess the security functions of wireless networks, and simpler and more cost-effective online security testing.

The subject matter described herein relates to methods, systems, and computer readable media for assessing attack vulnerability of radio access network equipment. One method for assessing the attack vulnerability of a radio access network device includes emulating at least one good UE. The method further includes emulating at least one bad UE. The method further includes transmitting traffic from the emulated good and bad UEs to a non-simulated radio access network device under test. The method further includes monitoring a response of the radio access network device under test to the emulated good UEs. The method further includes generating output indicative of attack vulnerability of the device under test.

The subject matter described herein includes methods, systems, and computer readable media for frequency selective channel modeling. One exemplary system includes a network equipment test device including at least one processor. The network equipment test device includes the UE emulator implemented by the at least one processor and configured to emulate a plurality of UEs that attach to and communicate with a device under test. The system further includes a frequency selective channel modeler configured to receive resource scheduling information for the UEs from the device under test, to determine channel performance categories for the UEs using the resource scheduling information and to determine values for channel quality parameters using the channel performance categories assigned to the resource blocks, which represent selected frequencies in the total channel bandwidth. The emulated UEs communicate the channel quality parameters to the device under test based on the frequency allocated for a given UE in the channel bandwidth.

A system for scalably simulating multiple LTE UE devices includes an LTE multi-UE simulator. The simulator includes a common public radio interface (CPRI) module for receiving downlink data from an evolved node B (eNode B) under test and a downlink signal chain processing module including a common section for performing UE agnostic processing of the downlink data and a UE specific section for performing UE specific processing of the downlink data. The simulator further includes a control digital signal processor (DSP) for receiving the downlink data from the common section of the downlink signal chain processing module, for processing downlink data to obtain control information, and for forwarding the control information to the downlink signal chain processing module. The UE specific portion of the downlink signal chain processing module performs the UE specific processing using the control information.
