A method transfers image information from a camera module () to an electronic device, such as a mobile station (). In the camera module (), an image is formed by an image sensor () having pixels, where the light to which the pixel (P-Pm,n) is exposed is converted into an analog signal which is converted into digital image information. The image information is transferred in serial form, and the transfer of the image information is controlled by the electronic device ().

Method and apparatus for transferring image data from an internal camera module

The invention relates to a recovery of a hardware module of an electronic device from a malfunction state. The hardware module is connected via a signal line to a recovery component of the device, a state of the signal line being controlled by the hardware module. The recovery component monitors a state of the signal line. Whenever the signal line is detected not to assume a predetermined state during a predetermined period of time, the recovery component causes a hardware reset of the hardware module.

Recovering a hardware module from a malfunction

Image or other data is stored in a memory. A first validation parameter (e.g., a checksum) is determined for the data stored in the memory at a first time, and stored. A second validation parameter is determined for the data stored in the memory at a second time, and also stored. The stored first and second validation parameters are then compared. In this manner, corruption of data in the memory may be determined by the comparison. In the case where the compared first and second validation parameters are not identical (within a threshold in certain embodiments), the data stored in the memory is updated. As applied to graphical image data, this is seen as advantageous over the prior art approach of periodically updating a frame memory even when no new image data set is present. Apparatus and computer program products are also detailed.

An energy-conserving mobile station and a means for reducing the energy consumption of a mobile station and to reduce burn-in on the display element, where a part of the liquid crystal display element (LCD) of a mobile station is switched off, when the whole display element is not needed and a limited amount of information is displayed on the switched-on part of the display element (A). An arrangement according to the present invention can be implemented by e.g. driving the control circuit (DC) of the liquid crystal display that supports the partition of the display element to switch of certain rows of the display element in energy conservation mode and switching them on to be used, when information is desired to be displayed on all of the display element.

Controlling display

The invention relates to a method for visualizing the input and display components of terminal equipment. The terminal equipment includes the said input component for controlling the operations of the terminal equipment and the display component. The terminal equipment () has at least two states, of which in the first, open, state, the terminal equipment implements the operations directed to it through the input component and in which second, locked, state, the terminal equipment does not implement the operations directed to it through the input component but instead implements an indicator effect in the input and/or the display component in order to visualize the input and/or the display component.

Method for visualizing the input and display components of terminal equipment and corresponding terminal equipment

A method of producing an antireflection structure for use on a display or a window surface or both in an electronic device, such as a mobile phone. The display can be an LCD with a top polarizer and a bottom polarizer. The antireflection structure is imparted on the top polarizer by a roller embossing process. In particular, the embossing is carried out in the same manufacturing process when the polarizer is produced. The antireflection structure has a plurality of sub-wavelength periodic grooves. The antireflection structure on the window surface can be imparted using an embossing process or an injection molding process.

In the standby or active condition of a mobile communications device, the microprocessor controller of the device is programmed to query the display driver memory for data relating to the characteristics of the image selected for display. If no grayscale or color data is present, the display driver is adjusted to disable shade generation to reduce current consumption.

It is possible to create a two channel data transfer system using an infrared link according to the invention. It is possible by utilizing it to transfer data between two terminal devices ( ) simultaneously to both directions (full duplex), or to establish a two-channel data transfer connection between two terminal devices ( ). An infrared link according to the invention is realized using linearly polarized infrared light (LV, LH). In it a data transfer channel formed using an infrared connection is divided into two separate channels using e.g. polarizers (V , V , H , H ) or beam splitters (BS , BS ). In this case, when data is transferred between two terminal devices ( ), the data transfer to one direction is realized e.g. using vertically polarized infrared light (LV), and correspondingly to the other direction using horizontally polarized infrared light (LH).
