A device includes a main body, a microphone module, and an acoustic guard. The microphone module is connected to the main body and comprises a first acoustic opening and a second acoustic opening, wherein the microphone module receives sound waves via both the first and second acoustic openings. The acoustic guard covers the second acoustic opening and comprises a first sound inlet via which the sound waves enter the acoustic guard and reach the second acoustic opening.

An electronic device includes a body and a microphone module. The body includes a plurality of corners and a plurality of edges meeting at the corners. The microphone module is provided with a plurality of acoustic openings and disposed at the corners and/or the edges of the body to expose the acoustic openings.

A mechanism that automatically configures the manner in which interrupt signals are shared in order to avoid system failures and improves the system performance is herein disclosed. The mechanism executes as part of the system BIOS during system initialization or reset. The mechanism utilizes information found in the configuration register space to determine the characteristics of the device. The device characteristics are used to determine which devices share IRQ signals. In this manner, devices that cause system failures due to sharing interrupt signals are not assigned a common interrupt signal thereby minimizing system failures and improving the overall system performance.
