The invention relates to a combustion-driven setting tool for fastening elements having a housing (), a piston guiding cylinder (), which is displaceably mounted in the unit housing in the cylinder longitudinal direction, a piston () guided in the piston guiding cylinder () for driving a fastening element () into a receiving material (), a receiving assembly () situated coaxial to the piston guiding cylinder () for the fastening element (), as seen in the driving direction, lies in front of the piston guiding cylinder () and is displaceable relative to same; an elastic adjusting assembly (), which constantly tends to separate receiving assembly () and the piston guiding cylinder () from each other; and a piston mounting (), which is attached to the on the end of the receiving assembly () facing towards the piston guiding cylinder ().

Combustion-driven setting tool for fastening elements

A setting tool includes a sleeve-shaped housing (), a piston guide () and an ignition unit () located in the housing (), with the ignition unit () having a cartridge chamber bottom () for enclosing a propellant () in cartridge chamber (), which is located between the piston guide () and the ignition unit () and a locking device () having a locking position () in which the ignition unit () is held in a pre-loaded position () against an energy accumulator () and in which the cartridge chamber () remains open, and having a release position () in which the ignition unit () is displaced to its ignition position () by the energy accumulator in which the cartridge chamber bottom () closes the cartridge chamber ().

A spreading anchor including a sleeve (2) having an expansion region (3) provided with longitudinal slots (4), and an axial bore (5) having a conical shape in the expansion region (3) conically tapering toward a rear, with respect to a setting direction (5) end (6) of the sleeve (2), and a spreading member (8) having a conical profile at least along a portion of its longitudinal extent and displaceable in the axial bore (5) upon radial expansion of the sleeve expansion region (3), the spreading member (8) having a cylindrical through-bore (9) and being formed of tensioning segments (11-14) which extend in an axial direction and are held together with a possibility of a radial resilient expansion.

A drive-in dowel formed as a sleeve (2, 22) provided with a load application element (3, 23) and having a front section formed of a plurality of expansion elements separated from each other by longitudinal slots, with each of the plurality of expansion elements being formed of a trailing expansion tab (8, 28) and a leading expansion tab (9, 29) separated by a flexible transitional region (6, 26) and forming with each other an angle (.alpha.) from about 100.degree. to about 160.degree., with a front end of the leading tab being located closer to a sleeve longitudinal axis (A) than the flexible transitional region (6, 26); and with the sleeve being provided with a plurality of chisel-like cutters (10) on outer surfaces of respective flexible transition regions (6; 26) which substantially do not project beyond the outer diameter of the sleeve.
