A method including creating a first bus guide and a second bus guide of a plurality of bus guides for an integrated circuit is disclosed. The method includes routing the first bus guide and the second bus guide through a plurality of layout blocks of the integrated circuit. The method includes annotating the first bus guide or the second bus guide to identify a plurality of areas for placing a plurality of repeaters within the first bus guide or the second bus guide. The method includes, based on the annotated first bus guide and the second bus guide, generating, by at least one processor, a plurality of guidance directories corresponding to a plurality of routes through the plurality of layout blocks for placing the plurality of repeaters at the plurality of layout blocks on the identified plurality of areas on the first bus guide or the second bus guide.

Interconnect repeater planning and implementation flow for abutting designs

A method includes generating a first bitmap for a cell. The first bitmap is indicative of mapping constraints of the cell. The method also includes generating a second bitmap for a PSC filler cell. The second bitmap is indicative of the mapping constraints of the PSC filler cell. The method also includes a bitwise logical operation between a portion of the first bitmap and a respective portion of the second bitmap and determining a compatibility between the cell and the PSC filler cell based on at least a result of the bitwise logical operation.

Automatic derivation of integrated circuit cell mapping rules in an engineering change order flow

An existing design of an integrated circuit includes existing cells that have already been placed and routed. An engineering change order (ECO) specifies additional new cells (ECO cells) to be inserted into the existing design. The ECO cells are also associated with target locations for their placement among the existing cells, but these target locations may violate design rules. The feasibility of 'legalizing' the placement of the ECO cells within the existing design is assessed as follows. The ECO cells are clustered into clusters based on their target locations. Clusters are assessed by determining an ECO placement impact (EPI) index for individual clusters. The EPI index is a measure of the feasibility for legalizing the placement of the ECO cells in that cluster.

Feasibility analysis of engineering change orders

Route segments of a set of nets may be grouped into route groups. Terminals of the set of nets may be grouped into terminal groups. For each net in the set of nets, a net signature may be determined based on route groups associated with the net and terminal groups associated with the net. The set of nets may be grouped into net groups based on the net signatures.

Grouping nets to facilitate repeater insertion

A computerized system is disclosed. The computerized system may include one or more processors configured to perform the operations stored in a memory. The operations may include creating a plurality of library (lib) cells for a directional routing layer, and determining a lib cell of the plurality of lib cells for placement of at least one repeater for the directional routing layer. The operations may also include determining a route touch region corresponding to a pin region of the lib cell through which a route is going through and inserting the at least one repeater at the route touch region. The operations may also include swapping the at least one inserted repeater to at least one target lib cell of the plurality of lib cells.

Smart repeater design for on-route repeater planning for bus

Techniques and systems for inserting repeaters in an integrated circuit (IC) design are described. Some embodiments can place a snapping region in the IC design, wherein the snapping region includes a predetermined arrangement of feasible grid regions and blocked grid regions, and wherein repeaters are allowed to be placed in feasible grid regions but not in blocked grid regions. Next, the embodiments can iteratively perform a set of operations, comprising: selecting a net from a set of nets; determining an initial location for inserting a repeater in the net; identifying an unoccupied feasible grid region in the first snapping region that is closest to the initial location; and inserting a repeater in the net in the unoccupied feasible grid region.
